Speaking of starting a scene... lol... (And not in reference to Analog-X.) But regardless of some folks moving on Cinema or Cararrararaaa etc., I know that they consider Bryce still worthy of an occasional joy ride. It has that something special to it, much like the reason why folks keep classic cars going.
As for myself, been too busy wit the Wingzzz... But I'll watch. This could be entertaining.

Just poking my head in here and... ewww.... something smells in here!
Someone's gotta air this place out... cough

There's still time, I have a 24 hour render (so far), and it's on 70%... before antialiasing.... And the 2nd computer is formatting a C drive and reinstalling windows... Trying to figure out which will finish sooner. I hope one of them is done before the weekend is over.
Or my old clunker that I'm posting from at the moment will die before it's all over LOL
....tapping fingers... trying to think of some 'yo momma joke.... It's either that or I go wash the dishes... yuck

when I wanted to be what I am now"
Old Stuff?
You young punks, I was there! I can remember when you had to turn on the black and white TV to let the tubes warm up two minutes before you could watch. And there was only three channels.
We had party lines on the telephone. You didn't need a wiretap to hear your neighbor's conversations. You just picked up the phone and held your hand over the mouthpiece.
There was only AM on the radio.
We thought cafe latte was coffee that didn't arrive on time.
Why, this new fangled internet thing was just a gleam in Al Gore's eye. We used to call it ARPANet. Porn was made of x's, o's and periods. You printed it on green and white tractor feed sheets from your unix terminal. Then you had to stand back about four feet just to see it.
The good old days. I still have a stack of punch cards, and still have those tractor fed sheets of green/white paper. The dot matrix no longer works, though. Still have my first optical mouse from the early 80's. Three buttons, red LED, and came with a reflective mouse pad with black and blue grid lines.
All that would make for a nice little render. Old computer stuff, terminals, 8" disks and punch cards. In fact I have played with the thought of doing a render for the challenge from an old memory of visiting my father's work place....
In one of the tallest buildings in New Orleans, down in the lobby, there was a large computer room with an IBM mainframe. They looked like tall blue boxes. This was one of IBM's largest ones too. There were large hard drives there, green-screen terminal stations, and tech ppl walked around in white lab coats. All this was separated by smoked glass from the lobby. Companies back then were proud to show how computer savvy they were--"look what we have."
Contrast this to now days where the computer room is hidden behind a combination locked door and other security, deep within the building.
It wouldn't be a bad render because it does make an artistic social statement of the change of times and ppl's attitudes. It fires up old memories and gets ppl nostalgic.
**There was only AM on the radio
-**Wow, I can't go that far back.
-I did have color tv that had tubes that had to warm up. I definitely remember only having those 3 channels though!
I didn't have dvd anything, no vcr, no cable anything, forget cell phones, I didn't even know anyone with a cordless phone when I was little kid.
We did have - a decent sized color tv set in a cabinet built with enough wood to construct a coffin, a record player that was 2nd only to the tv for cabinet construction and a phone, that was built into the wall, you dialed rotary, and it had a horribly strecthed out cord nearly 25 feet long.
That was technology when I was a child.

You might have just inspired someone to make a render of a rusty old dishwasher with the nastiest old dirty dishes ever :-P

Ah, good ole' old-school pr0n... Still the best in my opinion. Beats any HD-30fps 2hour silicone commercial in my opinion.

I thought this was the **"The Official Old Stuff Challenge Smack Talk Thread"
** If this is instead the **"the official old stuff (omit challenge) smack talk thread" ** I win.
You can all shut up and quit.
AgentSmith, you ain't old. Ha, I still got most those things you bragging about. Rayraz, you;re just a kid and shouldn't be looking a neked pics, I'll tell your mama. D@M, you poor thing. When I was in school, higher math was done with a slide rule.
Electroglyph, I was the guy who climbed those telephone poles and installed those party lines on open wire circuits (for you young'uns those were the old iron and copper wires strung pole to pole on glass insulators) I got pictures to prove it and I'm drawing a pension from a Bell company for doing it.
**Most importantly, I can still beat u all in a foot race. An Ang25 thinks I'm awefully handsome! ** (sorry Ang, I made that part up)
@ skiwillgee: When I was 5 I was using the abacus, which is actually quite fun. I still have my sliderule too, with a leather pouch that clips to the belt. Looks like a Rambo type knife from far. When the Texas Instruments calculator came out, I moved to those.
I know what you mean by doing the telephone pole thing. My father used to do surveillance work which involved that for the OSS (before the CIA). His thumb muscle got huge for working with all that.
Yea, but... by the time my old challenge rendering finishes, y'all will be very old!

We are one of the more mature forums..;) well, in terms of chronological, that is. I always thought Ang25 was 25..;) I'm just bummed out that I get my first AARP mag in November...sigh..;)
As for Drac, I've got socks older than him (a pair of Kelly Green socks bought in '73, for St. Paddy's; only worn once a year..;)
