Subject: Vue 6 xStream Spotlights

Stone_Camel ( ) posted Sat, 09 June 2007 at 12:27 AM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 6:53 AM

Hi All.  I searched for this but I can't seem to find an answer and I refuse to believe I am the only one having this problem.

In Vue 6 xStream when I create a normal spotlight the wire frame for that spotlight is huge.  And I can not find a way to shrink it or hide it.  Is there a way to make the wire frame for the spotlight (not the light eminating from it, but the spotlight itself) in order to make it a more managable size?

Thanks,

John

There is a setting in the preferences for cameras and lights - to have real sizes or not. You should switch that.

I found the check box you are referring to, but unfortunately, it didn't change anything.  What I would ideally like to do is to be able to manually resize the spotlight wireframe and have that size be the default for all future spotlights.

But thank you for the information.  :)

Maybe you should scale up your scene instead. Looks like that you work in very small scales right now. And this is not always good anyway.

Scaling up.  That is a great idea.  I spent the last several hours trying to figure out how to make the spotlight smaller, when I should have just made the scene bigger.

Thank you.

Bitte bitte - something we all did in the beginning. Working in tiny scales. And having problems with the light - too big in the scene, way too strong and therefore hard to control.

Good catch Wabe (as usual   :o)

I think 5x to 10x is typical and also when you import 3D models.

And another newbie tip: If you can't get lights bright enough with the slider, type in larger values. You can type in much larger that the max slider values in most Vue sliders. I often have light intensities of 1,000 to 5,000.
