Subject: Props library not popping up no more

sirenia ( ) posted Sun, 17 June 2007 at 5:53 AM · edited Sat, 18 January 2025 at 3:39 AM

Hi all, I recently have this problem with my Props Library not showing up (read: popping up) anymore in the Poser Library Window. I have no clue why whatsoever because the Props folder is 'only' about 390 MB and the Charakter folder (for example) is about 2,31 GB and this one works just fine popping up in the Library as well as all the other ones do. I have Poser 6 sr 3 on Mac OS X 10.4.9 Can anybody help me solve this please ? Thanks Wim

Yes, it's still there. Did not removed or deleted or renamed it.

Just tried it... but did nothing  The wierd thing is when i load a figure in the main window, the Props tab shows all the parts from that figure, and then when i select a part (via the library Props tab) it actually opens a prop folder in the library  For some reason the Props library is misreading somehowe what it is supposed to read i think.

Aaaaah !!! :scared: Why is that ? Do i have to re-install everything i ever put in the runtimes again ? And probably also update the service releases again ? Where do i find them these days, now that almost everything is for Poser 7 ? Sorry for the many questions :blushing: Wim

You should NOT need to reinstall everything ... just Poser + the SR(s).

It's (always) a good idea to backup your "Runtime" directory before you reinstall Poser just to be safe.

P.S. If you do not have copies of the SR(s), contact e-frontier to request them.
You will probably need to provide your s/n for Poser.

Before reinstalling try deleting the LibraryPrefs.xml file in the runtim: prefs folder. I'm not saying it will definately work but it will save on a full reinstall if it does. The only problem would be you'd have to add any external libraries back.

If you need them the SR is available from the http://www.e-frontier.com/go/downloads/updates

Just tried it, but nothing... Thanks for the link !

Move your runtime out of your folder and any other files you want to keep IE: Python stuff.

Uninstall Poser.  Reboot. Install Poser and the SR updates. Reboot.

Just tried something else: When i navigate to the most upper level in the library tab (there where you can see the folder 'Poser 6' with a big red dot next to it) and from there on i navigate back to the subfolders, suddenly it works again !! However, once i select a prop, it loads fine but after that i lost the 'Props' menu again 😕

Maybe it has something to do with the way you have poser set to display.  Right click in the scene area and look if you have Open GL or that Skree or whatever.  Try both. Pick which one works best for you.

Have you checked if you've installed anything with weird characters in the filename lately? That CAN cause all sorts of problems with the folders.

I've never heard of a whole palette refusing to show up, but...

I would check - double - and triplecheck the names of the props folder. Since that is the only one you're having problems with, the problem must be in there somewhere.

Thanks for the help you all :blushing: Acadia i tried Open GL and Skree like you said, but it makes no different. TrekkieGrrrl i'm gonna check again like you say, because indeed that's the only one that gives me problems. Is it possible that there are 'hidden' files in that folder with weird characters for a name maybe?
