Subject: Increasing panning speed?

JQP ( ) posted Thu, 28 June 2007 at 2:34 PM · edited Tue, 24 December 2024 at 7:11 AM

When I set the focal length of the camera where I like it (about 100) and zoom out so the subject is framed, relative panning speed slows down.  Any way to fix this?  I'd turn up mouse accleration but that makes me feel like I dropped acid.

Uh, actually it isn't because of the focal length.  I have no idea what causes this.  :/

A quick way is to click once on camera icons,
then the cam parameters appear in "Dials palette"
Now, simply use the the dials to pan around.
Much quicker then using the icons.

Also, sometimes switching to "Box tracking" will
speed things up even more...

Hope this helps

Yeah, I don't mess with that full tracking stuff.  Thanks for the tip, but I don't think it suits my style.  I guess I could use that when I get the weird pan drag though.

Geek test...can I name that alien without Google?  Erg...uh...ah...damn.  Can't  remember.  They were in Enterprise a lot, from an ice planet, had those great prosthetic antennae, and the main guy was that great character played by that great character actor who's shown up in tons of ST episodes in all kinds of makeup.  I keep thinking Vandalorian but that's probably way off.  Can't remember.

Geek test...failed.

Care to talk about the textures/texture settings used for that character?

DRACONIAN ( ) posted Thu, 28 June 2007 at 5:25 PM

LOL!

Andorians...

Well, actually, this character is a DNA mix of human, Andorian & vulcan.
The texture is a mix DAZ Hi-res Maps with Sophie(3DStrike).

The Antenae are from me, in Freestuff...

Also modified a Vein Map...

Also, it's rendered in C4D.

BTW, the HoloArch will become available to the community very shortly
Just need to make a few more tests, before packing the files...

Oh yeah, how could I forget Andorian ale?

How come alien stuff in Star Trek is always better/more powerful than human stuff when it's different?  How come nobody ever goes "hey try this Maldrakian ale" and then the captain does and spits it out saying, "you actually drink this piss?" Or sits down and drinks all the aliens under the table, laughing at how the weenies can't hold their liquor?

How'd you get her skin blue and decent looking?  My painting skills are nil and I never get anything good by messing with the diffuse color bars.

DRACONIAN ( ) posted Thu, 28 June 2007 at 11:23 PM

Indeed!  I know a few ladies who could 'Drink Men or aliens under the table... ;-)
Well, for one thing, the ingredients used in those 'Alien spirits' are for the
most part "indigenous" to their planets.  So, human anatomy is not used
to absorbing them.  Which could account for the "Stronger effect"

Ah!  The Blue hue of the skin is simply a filter in C4D, you could accomplish
the same effect in Poser.  You first need to desaturate the texture you want
to use, then simply multiply it by whatever hue you which...

So, no need for complicated nodes here.  You just need to find the proper
rgb colors to multiply your Greyscale texture.   Also, i use a bit of 'Translucence'
on the skin(very low setting).  I would plug that node to the Greyscale map also.

Do not forget that your light setup will affect the final look of your skin.
I never have more then 3 lites in any scene.  2 have shadows, the third is
just a 'Fill Light'...

Hope this info helps you!

Thanks Draconian, but I don't know what you mean by multiply.  Do you mean add a new layer, and set it to multiply, and then somehow change its color (say, image> adjustments>color balance), or a color balance adjustment layer, or what?
