Hi,
Not sure where you got the info that you can't upgrade Easel, but you can sidegrade Easel up to any version of Vue 6 :)
I have never tried Easel so won't comment on if its worth it or not.
Thanks

Wolf is right, I had Easel all last year and had a lot of fun learning, so it is a good product to get started with. You will not have all of the bells and whistles, but right now it seems most of them don't work very well anyway in the higher versions. So Easel would be nice and less troublesome.
I completely disagree with keenart. I had Easel and now I have Infinite. Easel is extremely limited. After a few days you'll feel unsatisfied (at least I did). There's almost nothing you can customize. You can load objects and atmospheres as they are but you can't change most of the things there. For example, the material editor is extremely limited. Your pictures would look the same as everybody else's, in terms of textures. It's really, really frustrating. And there's no ecosystems, which I think are the biggest asset of Vue. To build a landscape without ecosystems is very limited and frustrating.
I have infinite and I have absolutely no complaints about it. Everything works fine, just as announced (sure, a crash now and then but nothing that frequent saves won't solve).
I definitely do NOT recommend Easel and I vividly recommend Infinite.
I agree with thefixer, the PLE is a very good choice for you to be able to make an informed decision.
My point is quite straight forward. For anyone who does not have a lot of experience using 3D or a lot of money to invest, it is much better to start with the basics. Learn how to drive a car before you try to drive a truck.
You may find the car is a nice learning experience, while the truck is not suited for your purposes. And, if you do not like 3D, you have not lost an arm and a leg in a major accident, just suffered a bruise or two.
Waiting for the additional funds you could be learning, which is more important than showing off your rented Cadillac. PLE is nice, but the watermark is so extensive, you do not get to see much of your precious creation. Nor is it all that easy to learn, and PLE in many ways, is just as limited as Easel. However, Esprit is a nice alternative.
I agree that Esprit is a good trade-off between Easel and Infinite. Namely, it already has ecosystems and it has the advanced material editor. Those two things, IMHO, are core to Vue and I can't imagine Vue without it.
EDIT: although maybe Esprit doesn't come natively with ecosystem, I think it's a separate purchase, you would have to investigate that.
Esprit does come with eco-system but you have to use already pre-created eco-systems, you can't create your own. For that you need the Ecosystem module.

I do not know much about Vue. I'd love to have it and to try it but Vue Infinite or xStream are far too expensive for me. Now they offer a sale for Easel. Of course this is only a light version but I'm wondering if it is worth to buy . I have seen that there is no upgrade possibility from Easel...
What would you recommend? Should I buy it or try and save the money for a full version though it might take eternities?
