Subject: lost parameter dials p5

size8 ( ) posted Mon, 23 July 2007 at 8:17 PM · edited Tue, 05 November 2024 at 1:35 PM

I have Poser 5 and dont know what i've done but i used to be able to double click on a character/item of clothing etc and the parameter dials would appear but now they dont and i cant seem to get them to appear no matter what i do, if something could be moved and looked under i looked under it.
I tried window/parameter dials but they are ticked as on in there ( i unticked and ticked them again just in case) I also tried shift/ctrl/N but nothing happened. I've tried switching options to load in factory state.

I've uninstalled and Re-installed (making sure prefs was deleted first) and I've now uninstalled and removed everything then done a totaly clean new install and still nothing...

(would the fact that i have it all backed up on my spare D drive make a difference ? )
oh and i rebooted after everything i tried.

help pleaseeeeee

If you've reinstalled and still have the problem, it sounds like a virus.
Once I had a virus that grabbed one of Poser's DLL files and
kept on re-inserting itself on each new installation.  If you can re-install
to a different folder, it might help.  That is, remove all of Poser's stuff
everywhere on your computer, then install to a different location from
the default.

If it's not that deep, one other thing you might try is the interface switch.

In Poser, type

PO2

(just the letters and numbers, no return key or anything)
This will switch to a standard Windows-style interface, where you
*may *be able to see the edge of the parameter box off in one corner
of the screen.  Pull it back to normal, then type

PO3

to return to normal Poser interface.

If you no longer get a parameters dial window because you've inadvertently closed it, go to the window menu. Scroll down and you will see a parameter window choice. Click on it and it should  re-open that window for you and give back your dial controls. Hope this works for you.

Or just "ctrl" & "i" should open it too....  did you resize your desktop maybe and it's hidden off to the side perhaps?

Anywhere. ;) - Except if you have a field waiting for input, of course.

If you have saved any UI Dots, applying one may do the trick. If not, try increasing Windows screen resolution, then max-size Poser and see if you can see the Paramiter pallet now, if so drag it to center, then reset windows resolution.
