Did you get the free base content that was added to your available downloads after registering to get the serial number? With that you should be able to work through the quickstart guide and Judee's starter tutorial - if you go to the DAZ forums there's a thread full of D|S tutorials in the DAZ|Studio Discussions forum.
Go here to see the tutorials and go to the top and choose "oldest to newest" and there are some very basic getting started tutes.

Go here and download the manual..it's called "Artist Guide". It's the help file for the program and it has all the help you need on how to use the program for the first time.. It walks you thru the basics so you can get a grasp on how the program works. It's at the top of the page and there's also links to other things for Daz Studio.

Edit: I do have other stuff, but it's for poser, so I won't be cruel enough to get someone to help me with it...yet haha

Hutton...
I have Poser and I install to Poser's runtime. I never use Poser except to install to.
I point Daz to the Poser runtime and everything runs along smoothly.
You can tell Studio to search for content and it will find it on your pc and give you access to it within the program.
Occasionally you run into something that doesn't work but usually you will be warned before you download something if it won't work in Daz..
If you have poser..almost anything you have installed to it will work in Daz...and the freebies that are for poser will work in it too.

Inside Daz Studio you will find a folder called "Content" this is the folder that you install to.
If you get the free stuff at Daz you will get installers and you won't have to worry about where to put anything..its all automatic.
Look inside the unzipped folder that you got from renderosity and see the "content" folder there? You want to put the stuff inside that..inside the content folder in Daz.
Now..it seems like everyone does it differently. I copy and paste the whole content folder and let it overwrite the daz content folder. ..same as with runtime folders in poser.
If yu have winzip it will install for you if you tell it to. I don't use winzip..sorry.
Lots of ppl have their own way of setting up their runtimes etc.
Someone may be willing to tell you an easier way.

Sorry Hutton..
No I don't have any links from here to the daz stuff..
If I want anything I go to the freestuff section and change the little pulldown window at the top that says "all" to "Daz" and it auto changes to only show you stuff for Daz.
good luck

Quote - Sorry to be a pain, but how you told me to upload the content, it didn't work. For example, the wrench dress for aiko 3. I can get into it in Daz, and it shows up, but I can't actually put it on Aiko 3 at all.
~Hutton~
Hutton - I think the file you have is a texture file. You have to have Sione's free Witch dress to use it on. There's a link to the dress on the Share CG website where you got the texture from. After you put the dress on Aiko, then put the texture on the dress.
Is it? Ahhh, nobody told me haha. I seriously need to have to get used to this. And now i've got Bryce as well, even more to learn. Anyways, thank. I'll go check it out.
Edit: Could you link me to it? can't find it :(
And Annie, I feel like i'm being a pain hehe, so it's best to apologies, even if i'm not. I've been brought up to be FAR too polite.

You are not a pain Hutton..I just wish I could explain things to you better.
I followed the link for the wench dress and yes you do have the texture..and the link to get the actual dress didn't work for me.
Maybe you should try some different clothes now..lol
Before you download from the freestuff..check the little details button, next to the download button and it should tell you what you are getting and if you need something else first to use it.
That should save some time. :D

the link goes to a chinese site and when you try to download it takes you to something called finalware.tv and there's nothing there.
If you can get it to work..could you let me know how you did it?
I can't read the page so I might be missing something.

Hi Hutton,
Welcome to the madhouse.

This was in an earlier thread by Bar-code. It contains the freestuff that I think AnnieD was talking of before.
If you go to the freebies section here and have a look at the 'details' tag. That will say whether it works in D/S and if you can use if for commercial as well as private use and if you need anything else to go with it or if it is stand alone.
Then download it into your D/S content folders under an appropriate folder and load it onto your figure. When you do go to the right hand side and make sure you use the 'fit to' command to make the clothing move with your figure. I cant show you at present as I am at work, if you need me to do a screen print just let me know and I will do it when I am at home. Jen
Hi Hutton,
One thing i have found with 99.9% of the turtorials written, they are done by those that have used the program/s before i they tend to forget not everyone as a full understanding of the program. I am lucky to say with the help of some from this forum, plenty of time on my hands and a habit of clicking on things to see what they do i have learned a few things to get me by.
I know how frustrating it can be to find a tutorial on a program that explains things in the new user way like "to do this you have to go into here then click on this and now you have this done"
I pray for the day that those that do tutorials wak up and relise not everyone's been using the program for years..

Two annoying things I cannot find/understand.
I can't find any tutorials for starting with Daz. I've never used the program before, so i don't really understand it.
I've downloaded some free stuff, but I have no idea how to use it :(
Any help would be appreciated.
