You shouldn't be so surprised. Good models of ordinary objects are the hardest things to find. It's easy enough to find a robot model. But try to find models of the tools needed to assemble a robot and the workbench to put them on!
As long as you're in the electrical department, how about modeling a wall switch and an electrical outlet? These are simple things that, if hung on a wall, add realism to a scene. You hardly notice that they're missing, but it's like defects in skin texture: the lack of such things gives away that the image is a render and not a photo.

Just for the heck of it, I modeled only the lamp post piece (the part with the socket and lamp harp or whatever that thing that holds the shade is called) of an indoor lamp. I guess it wasn't such a bad idea, since any reasonable sized object to stick it into can be the base fixture. Also doesn't hurt that shades are easy to make and that there are lightbulb models already floating around on the internet that should work with it. Nor does it hurt it that there are who-knows-how-many lamp models out there where this one part is overlooked in regards to detail.
I find it amusing that such an inane thing is setting a personal record for freebie downloads. (At least in terms of first two days - dunno if the trend will continue.) Most of which are from R'osity. (80-90% of the shareCG coming from here based on a counter comparison.)
Now I'm wondering if there are other overlooked generic household-type items which could be implemented into similar general usage. Any suggestions?
