Subject: Problem importing Poser animation...?

hamiltonpl ( ) posted Sun, 04 November 2007 at 2:08 PM · edited Sat, 17 August 2024 at 12:18 PM

I have a 260 frame animation in Poser. It is saved as PZ3 file. I was able to bring this into VUE Easel with no problem and then render it. When I did the anmation with Poser played across the frames.

I upgraded to Esprit so I can animate objects other than the camera. I bring in the SAME PZ3 file I did before and I make sure that I check the box that say bring in all frames but now the animation will not play.  It just renders frame 1.

I must be doing something differently. I cannot figure out why the animation doesn't play inside Vue. It did before. Am I leaving out a step? tks.

Did you configure Espirit for Poser?  File, Options, General Preferences.  Click the Poser Import button and make sure it set to the right Poser version folder.

Also, there is a dialog box that comes up when importing.  Did you see that and selected import entire Poser animation? Sometimes you click "don't Show this" box and then you never see that message box again...  To get them all back, File, Options, General Preferences and click the Restore Disabled Messages button.

Thank you for the quick response. Yes I noticed that it was set to version 5 of Poser although I am using version 7.  The poser folder is correct and the figure comes in fine and renders fine but without the animation.  I can select say frame 30 and that frame comes in with the figure posed properly so I know it is seeing the different frames.

Is there something regarding the timeline I need to do? I am not doing anything to the PZ3 other and positioning it withing the scene. This is bizarre - don't know what is happening.... :-(

A little more information - I installed the VUE Easel TRIAL.  IT works fine importing into that. It creates an animation right after the import on the time line. It also asked a quesiton about where you want the meshes handled - Vue vs Poser - I picked poser. Is there a way to set the VUE 6 Esprit install back to ask all these questions again like it's the first time you try importing?  Something is goofed up with Esprit I think - why would it work in Easel Trial??

You should be able to get back the dialog boxes the same way.  Use the File, Options, General preferences tab.

I uninstalled and reinstalled VUE  Esprit and did not update it to the latest version. When I did that the animations are now importing as expected. I'm not sure what went wrong. Tks for all of your assistance.

Some times that's what it needs.  Glad it's working now.
