Hi!

I have an image that is higher than wider, meaning you can simplify it down to a line.Now, how can I wrap this line to the margins of a perfect circle without distorting it (apart from wrapping)?

Is there any way to choose the amount of degrees the images will follow?Something that will also let you wrap it around a circle, but only for 180 degrees and not the full 360 degrees.Also, fitting the length of the image with that of the circle would be nice, so that the image will not become "longer" in the process.

And in the same order of ideeas, such an image can be transformed into a helix?

All these three things I am askig for, I have seen them done before, but I don't know how.

The age old problem is not being able to see the image in Question and Diagnose a Correct Response, but being at work as I am now, what about the "TWIRL" function? For 180 degrees is should be OK although it will not work for the full 360.  As far as the image being longer than wide, you can always change the size of the Canvas so that both Match. But, Again, I am not looking at your image and may actually be off base about what I interpret you are wanting to do.

P.S. Also, what Version of Photoshop are you using???

For wrapping an image into an arc, and assuming you are using CS2 or higher, do this:

  • go to Edit->Free transform
  • click the 'Switch between free transform and warp mode' button in the toolbar
  • select the variety of warp you want from the drop-down menu
  • you can adust the angle by dragging or by entering values into the 'Bend' box
  • for a helix... dunno, but try the other warp varieties, maybe some experimentation will yield something

So that is why I could not do it. I have a Personally Modified Version of PS7 in combo with CS. It doesn't have the function,................................ Hmmm, Time to Upgrade !!!

Create a path, distort the line along the path. I think. Never done it, but I think that's how ya do it.

Tried polar co-ordinates under distort on your filter menu?  It picks the top as the centre normally and compresses that whole upper edge into a dot and wraps the rest of the photo around it.  Interesting effects can be made with it.  Not really sure what you are asking to be honest...
