Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 25 4:22 pm)
Hi Molina00,
You might try using Poser's GROUND texture for a "quick & dirty" trial to give it some texture.
Change the diffuse color to something different than the beige color used for the ground.
Just a thought because it's already available in the Mat. Room ... just do a "cut & paste" and plug it in to your back wall's diffuse color property.
cheers,
dr geep
;=]
P.S. That's a mighty nice lookin' stage set you have there.
How about posting another pic here (or a link to it) when you get a tex map on it, ok?
;=]
Remember ... "With Poser, all things are possible, and poseable!"
cheers,
dr geep ... :o]

Thank you for the tips. I'll give it a try and see how it turns out.
I'm not exactly sure what a texture map is though. Is that what UV Mapper is used for, or do you just mean when I have everything else textured?
Thanks again.
Have a search through the 2D freestuff here for portrait backgrounds - one of those could well be appropriate for this. You want something with some interesting variation in it, but not too distracting. If you have Poser 5 or above you could also try experimenting with the clouds node in the material room.

People use different names for the same thing here, which can be confusing. :) A texture map is just an image file which is applied to a 3D model to colour the surface (see also transparency map, bump map etc.) It's called a colour map in some parts of the 3D world. What you get with UVMapper is a template - something that will guide you when making your own texture maps.

Thanks for the advice. I do have Poser 6 but I have no idea how to work the clouds node (have never even come across for that matter), but I found a couple of packs here I like. Just need to see if they will look good on a stage setting or not.
I thought that was what UV Mapper was for. I didn't even think about the bump maps and such, or maybe I would have known what a texture map was.
Thanks again.
Here is what I have now:

Obviously the lighting needs some work, I'm not too worried about that right now. Mainly want suggestions regarding the modeling and texturing if anyone has any. I'm not very good at finding textures that all seem to match what I am trying to do.

Suggest you might consider adding some type of frame(s) around the monitor screens.
I like your reflections on the desk.

Thanks a lot. Good to know the near 11 hours I've put into this project haven't been totally wasted. :tongue1:
I tried modeling at least a couple of different screens that had frames but couldn't get them to look right when textured and rendered. I just had to settle for putting a black border around the images on the two side screens.
I would also like to say thanks to SandDancr for allowing me to use the render of "The Peacekeepers" on the right screen. The one on the left was rendered by me using the George Bush character and Oval Office setting. I'm going to have closer shots of the screens in my promo pics when I make this available.

I'm currently working on building a news desk type of setting. I did the desk and backdrop (wall with monitors), but I was having trouble coming up with some texturing for the wall. Here is the link to a render of it (I just did basic texturing for now, I intend to work more on it):

Ignore the black boxes on the wall. I am going to texture those separately with some news headlines/images etc. It is mainly the wall I couldn't figure out something good to texture it with, so any thoughts would be great. Also if you have any suggestions for overall improvement I am open to ideas.
Thanks a lot.
