Subject: Secret to a Skinny Waist?

Acadia ( ) posted Mon, 07 January 2008 at 9:56 PM · edited Thu, 07 November 2024 at 10:16 AM

I need to make a character that has a really skinny waist... think retro pinup type shape.

I am lost as to what morph dials to turn to achieve this and can't seem to get the hour-glass look.  Here is an example of what I would like to do:

http://market.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/photos/prodimg4/product_image_full_48571.jpg

Whenever I try I end up with big hips that jut out too much at the tops of the hips.

Can someone please provide some suggestions as to settings?

I came fairly close using waist width, hipsize, and hipscrest.

In poser the easiest way is with a magnet actually .. and this is one of the simple applications :)
My magnet tutorial pdf up at sharecg.com should help you get started... its more conceptual stuff than a howto.
I usually do mags like these on the fly since I dont like v3's default shape at all. The waist and hips are very chunky :P

Magnets.

Select your abbs, create a magnet.
select the magnets properties tab and click on " Add Element to Deform " select the hip. repeat and select the chest.

Scale and trans to your hearts content. Very simple.

Thanks! I'll try the magnets.

I've never saved a magnet set up to the library before. How do you reuse that set up for the clothing?

For V4 with morphs there is a nice included morph called "Pear Figure."  Dialing it negative gets the waist and hips down to size.

Select the clothing, and apply the magnet from the library (it works as if it was a parented prop).

Acadia:

Which figure? With DAZ3 figures one can select the abdomen and reduce the scale of the X and Z axes. This rescaling does not work well with the Poser figures, or the G2 figures.

You can use also the "Love handles"(lower torso group) dials with negative values.

Faery_Light ( ) posted Wed, 09 January 2008 at 3:16 PM

I usually adjust the ab, waist and hip dials. Someone has a great, Morphing with Magnets from RDNA, tut that also shows how to do a, hmmm, fall-off, thing so you don't get bony projections on hips or abs when using mags. I'm still trying to learn the magnet morphing thing so I can't tell you how it works. :(

I still haven't had a chance to try the magnets yet. I'm back in Physio (well, it's more fitness training from a newbie level) and between that and some other things I've had going on I haven't had much time to do much of anything.

The figure I was trying to do it with was V3.  Just using the dials I found that I couldn't shrink the tops of the hips enough to slope gently from a very narrow waist.  By the sounds of it the magnets are the key though.

Can't remember exactly, but there was a boob morph that included hour glass shape morphs for V3 here at Rendo, I think. Its been awhile, I think it was a freebie. A search should bring it up.

Does anyone else remember?

I am at the consumer electronics show in vegas on my laptop, and will be back at my main cpu tomorrow. There I have a link to a corset prop for V3 that uses magnets (I can't remember if it is free or not). You can apply it to her body. the clothes she wears and not use the corset, Works on other Mil figures with a buttock body part I seem to remember pretty good, but not on V4 cause she has no butt part. It shapes not only the waist, but the hip, chest and I believe collars also with the appropriate fall off zones. Works really well as you turn one dial and it changes other magnets all at once. I will post the link when I get back to my main cpu

Acadia -- I own the corset V3 is wearing in that image. The clothing creator (TrekkieGirl)  made an injectable FBM to get Vic to fit in that thing, and lemme tell you, its not pretty if you hide the corset.  Ie, V3 probably can't be morphed to those proportions without some serious deformations...

Acadia,

If you're still looking for the morph, here is the link in freebies. Its the Balloon Breast and Body Morph by deviantArt.

do you have Rayne by Capsces?  she has some waist morphs that will do exactly what you want, too.  i like hers because they have separate x, y an z component, iirc.

the example given definitely something that would require a corset and someone with a "trained" waist.  so you'd need the right clothes too. i'd probably suggest just getting that corset, if you can.  and for V4, the Roxana Yaroslavna one.

Per my prior post. Here is the link

I thought I got it elsewhere as a freebie, but it turns out it is a purchased item that comes with magnets to shrink the waist, hips, chest, right and left collars, buttock, etc,
