THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Import POSER 6 figures??

vernonglen ( ) posted Sat, 26 January 2008 at 5:31 PM · edited Fri, 26 July 2024 at 5:01 AM

Hello again,

I need help importing a figure into Bryce 6 from Poser 6. The manual is tough going, I just don't get it.

Thanks a bunch. I'm sure there must be a simple way to do it?

Oh it's been a while since I did that.
I do remeber that you can I think save your figure as an object, but you need a bit of thinkery to get the materials right, especialy the eyebrows.

Hopefully, others will come in here.......?

Am I'm missing something? Why not get Daz studio and import your Poser 6 figure into that then just use the Daz studio button in Bryce 6 to import the figure from DS?

IIRC, the recipe is :-

Save Poser scene as a PZ3.
Open Bryce.
Click the Studio button.
Import the PZ3.
Return to Bryce (one of the entries on the File menu).

If you import an OBJ, you'll have much more work to do on setting the materials up.

The last thing to be aware of is the need to "Break the link" to D|S to make sure adjustments in Bryce don't get reverted by another visit to D|S.

I have never been very clear on what Daz is. Is it 3d software something like Carrara or what? I get their email letters and thats where I have been getting my Carrara and Bryce upgrades lately, but I have not understood just what it is.

DAZ/Studio is a great proggy that is attached to Bryce these days. I won't go into the history, but generally speaking, it can do mostly what POSER does only quicker and easier.

OK so it hasn't got all Poser's bells and whistles, but the main thing is that once you've created a Character in DAZ/Studio it's just a button-click away from importing it to Bryce.

AND it uses eveything you got for Poser!!! because it reads your Poser directories.

Imagine you want an A3 (Aiko3) of a Vicky to appear in your Bryce scene?
Simply open up DAZ/Studio and create one of the girls. Pose her, dress her, do everything you want with her - bearing in mind that this is a family show and cleanliness is our watchword - then click the Bryce button and she pops up already to go in your new Byce scene.

Now here's the really good bit - If your character isn't quite posed as you'd like, just hit the DAZ/Studio button in Bryce and you get taken back to D/Studio so that you can make adjustments!!!!

It doesn't take too long to get to grips with and you need to be aware of a couple of things, but on the whole it's a real nice proggy and I'm really glad it's there......And it's free!

BTW - when I first answered your post, I was assuming that you prefered to work in Poser and that's why I didn't mention D/S.

Hope theis helps!

DAZ (Digital Art Zone) is the company name. They're in Utah and make 3D models and also let otehr artists sell their 3D models there. They are the creators of the very popular models for Poser called Victoria and Michael.

DAZ's website is www.daz3d.com

DAZ also has a few pieces of software they own, eitehr by acquisition or having developed themselves. They have acquired Bryce and Carrara. The have developed DAZ Studio, a Poser alternative. DAZ also has had some lip synching softare as a plugin for Lightwave.

When people talk about Daz sometimes they really mean the program Daz studio, not Daz the company. Confusing indeed.
