***Greetings All,

AS still a newbie who has yet to grasp the workings of Daz (yes I know here we go again) How do I get a render to work without locking up to the point that I have to restart the whole  program fresh over? never mind the quality of the render at this stage lol.
Have reloaded DazStudio, cleaned out temp folders, done defrag. spyware checks.before
re-install of  vers  1.8.2.1

OS Windows XP PRo.

P4  HP Pavilion Media centre
Ram 1 g
HDD 64gb
Ext HDD storage 250 gb  and 120 gb Maxtors    ( like many ,keep getting all the models out there I can afford before learning to use DAZ properly!)
Have just installed V 4.2
Also installed is Bryce 5.5, now that is great ,works fine renders when I ask it to. Perhaps should move models into Bryce to render.
I think D/S and Bryce make a great duo .

Thanks for any help you can offer.
YOU ARE DEALING WITH A LEMON HERE.............please use simple terms!!!

I'm far from an expert and have only been working with Daz about a year and a half..but I would check the render settings first.
If you were locking up with V 4.2 you aren't the only one so you may want to check the forum at Daz..there was a discussion going on there with one of the techs.  She locked me up too when I first loaded her..I even lost the whole scene file I had made...poof and it was gone.  The next time I loaded her I checked each item as I placed it in the scene..so far, so good.

Good luck...but do check out the Daz thread too.

D|S itself runs fine for me, but V4.2 grinds my machine to a screeching halt as well. I'm not used to that; because it is a powerful workstation.
I don't personally care for V4 that much anyway, so it isn't such a huge deal to me, but still...

Thanks guys.. so it looks like a patch might be in order for  V4.2.

Will check out the Daz threads  and remove V4.2 for the moment and see if that makes a difference.

Just want to get D/S working smoothly ...Thanks again.

Just an update to render crashes.

I removed all V4.2  and done yet another install of D/S and all has returned back to normal, everything running" sweet as a nut" you ripper !!

Thanks Annie , after reading the threads on Daz site seems as you say I was not alone in my probs, so I will put V4.2 on ice for the moment.

Cheers.
