Hi,
Can anyone tell me if the Collada animation import to Max p from PoserPro  works.

The export works, but the max import doesn't work -- Autodesk doesn't keep it up to date -- there is a 3rd party importer, but that only works with certain versions of 3ds max. Check the official poser pro website for exact details -- the url escapes me right now....

There is a sample on the poser pro website showing that it works, but I haven't tried animation yet. You might want to post more details on exactly what you're trying to do, and see if anyone else has tried exactly what you want to do.

Hi adroge,
Thanks for the info. Basically, In PoserPro I would like to set up animations with V4 with clothing, hair etc and import the animation sequence into Max9 for rendering. Before I purchase PoserPro I want to make sure I can get the animation into max9.

Use Poserfusion - if your Max is 32bit.

Hi Jeffg3,
Is Poserfusion part of PoserPro or is it a separate software. I went to SmithMicro to check it out but i am not clear as to what I need.

Poserfusion is part of PoserPro.

You use Poserfusion to import and render animations in MAX, you use Collada to import rigged characters to then rig and pose them in MAX.

What you need to use is Poserfusion, not Collada, for what you want to do.

It is part of the package.

It is a plugin that allows you to pretty easily import Poser content into 3dsmax. It use to be called BodyStudio.

It also supports figure animation and dynamic cloth. Unlike Collada, you can't repose figures in Max. The plugin does maintain a dynamic link to the poser file so you can open the poser figure up in poser and adjust the pose etc. and save it and reopen the Max file and you will see your changes.

It won't install on Max 64bit - only 32.

This is where you want to go:

http://poserpro.net/New_Index_9000.html

then on the navigation tree on the left, go to COLLADA and start reading up on it. Same with PoserFusion.
