Subject: Evenly Spacing Trees

LMcLean ( ) posted Tue, 07 October 2008 at 10:02 AM · edited Tue, 04 February 2025 at 12:45 PM

Hi, the Vue community here is very helpful so I figure if anyone can find an answer to my problem then it will be here.

What I am doing is creating a row of individual trees evenly spaced.

I can do it successfully using the "Distribute" feature, but since this feature copies full versions of the trees and not "clones' or "instances" it is very memory intensive.

So my question is there any way to create a line or row of single trees using another method?
Do you think it could be done using an ecosystem and a distribution map or possibly the "Function Editor"?

Thanks

I think the easiest, and most efficient memory wise, is by using the ecosystems feature "force regular alignment of instances".

I used the "force regular alignment of instances" and it worked great! Thanks Indoda and Rutra

Otherwise, you have the ecosystem ancestor, existed before the age of fire, that is called "scatter and replicate"...

Vue Infinite, iirc, duplicates are semi instances, they shouldn't take up much memory iirc? :)

Hi LMcLean,

I have a basic tutorial on replicating on my site.

Hope it helps you with this.
