Subject: Victoria 4.1 to VIctoria 4.2

Hi.

I created about 22 characters using the Victoria 4.1 model, and then I saved them to a PZ3 format. Is there a way I can load the PZ3 file to make it load Victoria 4.2 instead of Victoria 4.1? Or do I have to do this manually?

You could probably get this done with poking around in the file but If I were you I'd just copy and paste the morph dial settings:

  • Load old character
  • Load new blank
  • Inject morphs (if you don't know which, just inject all)
  • Select old character BODY
  • Edit -> Copy
  • Select new blank's BODY
  • Edit -> Paste

Morph settings are transferred, you can delete the old character from the Poser scene (NOT the old file, just in case) and move on to transferring materials over, and save to a new file.

You can also take the opportunity to slim it down with svdl's spawncharacter.py script, or some equivalent, and make a new single morph target that contains all the combined morph values, and then run the REM ALL pose to get rid of all the DAZ original deltas.

There's hardly any reason to replace V4.1 by V4.2 in a scene or prebuild character. The main change in the CR2 are arbitrary modifications for the groups (I think it's the only change in the CR2). The really big change was that ExP no longer loads the full morphs, but only morph injection channels.

However, it could make sense to create INJ poses for the characters, so you can reuse them, but don't have to store the full figure in a scene. These poses could be made for both, V4.1 and V4.2. But this requires external tools.

Just the same, there is a good chance that old copies of V4/4.1 contain really screwed up morph data, e.g. phmIrisConvexity used to make Poser crash whenever you touched the head with the morph brush.  Not a bad idea to move your settings to a fresh copy.

Oops, it occurs to me that the steps I listed above forgot the Head!  The face morph dials would need to be compied also:

  • Select the head of the old character
  • Edit -> Copy
  • Select the head of the new character
  • Edit -> Paste

That ought to get everything.
