I personally don't like this system. I'd prefer the rule violations to be in the user profile. Maybe in the private zone, if you are concerned about privacy, like the account informations or the orders history. But definitely visible by the interested user in each moment, not stored "somewhere" and retrieved IF and WHEN requested. Retrieved by who? The same person who wrote the violation? What was the exact wording of the violation? Which details were recorded? Is there a severity range? Are the details stored in a database? Who can read them? How can I be sure they are not changed arbitrarily?
If users could see their violation records in every moment, these questions would be answered at once.
(In my case, I'd not mind if my details could be read by everyone, but it's just a personal opinion.)
Sorry if my English is awful. I hope that my thought is clear.

george, if they made the rap sheets public, then members would start trying to outdo each
other, to see who was the baddest of them all
Yes, like in the Old West, when your reputation was strictly related to the reward pending on your head....
No, seriously, I am not asking for THAT. Violation records must be private. But each user, in my opinion, should be able to know in each moment WHAT he did, WHEN, WHO reported him and what exactly was said.
Suppose that tomorrow morning I receive a mail saying "you have been issued a TOC violation, and it's your second one. You are banned for a week". What? Which was my first one? "It is something of five years ago". And was I supposed to remember that? Maybe it's a limit case, but I'd like more transparency in managing TOS violations and the associated database. Severity of issues, time of their permanency in the personal records, consequences of next violation, and so on.
(And, Nancy, thanks for the compliments about my English. I am trying to improve it).

When yo do a bad giorgio, you do get a letter from the Mod/Coord/Admin person giving you the warning etc. as soon as it happens. In cases as in a thumb nudity issue your image will disappear from your gallery till you send in an appropriate thumb nail to replace the offending one. Other letters will ask you to make a change yourself within a given time before we do it and note that on your record as well as the offence.
But the long and short of it is, no member gets any kind of discipline without a notice being sent by the person applying the discipline....hope this helps you undestand the system a bit better.. ...

Thanks for the explaination, bobby.
I know how the system works (even if I have never received a notification). But emails and sitemails can be deleted. Time passes.
Let's make a comparison. When I place an order in the Marketplace: I receive a mail with the order details, but an entry is also placed in my Orders History. THIS ENTRY IS PERMANENT, even if I delete my mailbox. And it's the official proof of my order.
I simply would appreciate such a mechanism even for TOS violations. In my opinion, this would improve a lot the transparency of the whole system.

You record does stay intact totally...this is how we count the offences before issuing a temp or perma ban on members who refuse to follow the few simple rules we have.
RE: transparency, that's already been answered in a previous post...any time YOU want to you can request a copy of YOUR OWN record but privacy rules all, so **you can never see another member's record...**just the way it is and shall stay, and in my opinion a very good idea.. ...

Sometimes I hear a fellow forum member complain because he/she has violated the TOC and now this fact has been noted on his/her "record".
I wonder... where is this record? Is it in my profile? How can I inspect it?
