yup render and save as a PNG ...

yep thats ok my main problem is that ive had trouble with renders not finishing the image (but progress bar finishing and no error messages ) which seems to happen when i use a photo as a background so I thought i could drop the back ground photo in later in photoshop (might save some render time dont know
... making sure, of course, that you have nothing in the scene background that will render, such as a skydome or backdrop. The Poser 'Background' itself does not render.
If you want to render ground shadows but not the ground itself, then go into the Material Room, select the GROUND prop, and tick "Shadow catch only".
If you get some fine or transparent edge details, especially hair, showing up grey against your background, then change the render settings to render against a black background, and that should improve it.

I also recommend that you change your render settings to "Render over black background." This will prevent you from having an ugly 1 pixel grey border around your image. There will still be a 1 pixel black border, but that looks more like a shadow than a border, and is much nicer.
However, when you are wanting to render something like a bride in a white dress, I suggest rendering over a white background so that the pixelation will blend in.

I do it all the time, and can confirm that it works, and works well. It's particularly effective if you put something (smoke, rain, light beams etc) in front of the figure as well as behind it, and between figures if you've got more than one. I used the technique here:

is it possible to render a figure in poser with out any back ground so that a background could be added later in photoshop with out needing to "cut it out"?
