This is just a difference in the way that OpenGL displays your vege planting -vs- your render. What I would do is to increase the density to 100% or higher, hit populate and check your render. Also, in your draw settings ( inside the options ) you may want to increase your sliders in the top left corner.
Hello Gary,
Thank you for the reply. I have already tried setting the density to 100% and greater, and I have added additional plants to the areas that appear thin using the ecosystem paint brush. I will try and play with the draw settings as you suggested, but would the fact that they need adjusting affect the way that the render appears? A rendered scene shows a very noticeable reduction in the number of plants compared to a render before the atmosphere was changed. Also, when I try saving the scene after this thinning occurs, the saved scene also seems to show many less plant instances as well although the total polygon count stays the same as the earlier "thicker" ecosystem.

Hello Everyone,
I have been working on a mini panoramic scene and I have started having some strange ecosystem behaviour when I load a new atmosphere or edit the current one. Basically what is happening is that when the scene re-draws in the preview window, the plants in the ecosystem have thinned out and become less dense. In the front, top, side and main camera views everything looks normal, but when I render the image I get the thinned out ecosystem that I see in the preview window. While Vue indicates that my resources aren't too low (generally 50-60%), I am wondering if this is a memory issue. I currently have a P4 3.4 GHz system (Dell XPS Gen 4) with 3 GB of ram, Windows XP Home Service Pack 3.
I have tried searching the forums but I haven't found a similar problem mentioned in any of the posts. Has anyone else had this problem, and is it a memory issue?
Thanks for any replies.
