Subject: Export Texture maps from poser

I am about to start creating custom textures for alot of Poser clothing and sell them here on Renderosity. Im just curious is there any way to export the texture map from poser. I do know its possible to just export the clothing as an obj and opening it in maya and export from there and that I have been doing for months now but I am just curious is there any possible way to just export the  map striaght through poser.

A texture is simply stored as an imagefile somewhere in the texturepath. So there is no need to "export". Just grab (load/import) it with the application you want to use the texture with.

Let me rephrase that lol. I mean I need to export the original UV map from the clothing

Poser can not do that but UVMapper can. You can download the free Lite version from http://www.uvmapper.com Load in the figure's OBJ file and you will be able to save out the texture template.

Because you are using Maya: Wouldn't it be simpler to use Mayas UV-map export function?

Why would you need the UV Map for? Just go into the textures from the original model or clothing and Paint or design over that?

Here is a very simplified way to edit textures , transparency and bump maps in CS4 but you can use any image editing software of your choice. just right click on the image to save it and read it it is much larger than you see it here on this post

Because that makes your work derivative, which means that you are infringing on the copyright of the original creator. Even if what you end up selling has no pixels in common with the original. Plus, pragmatically, if you want something more detailed than the original (adding stripes, for example), you need the UV-mapping to be accurate.

Its the same as a uv map? it just has a texture overlay? And I am talking about for personal use here that is not a infringment on the copyright ? I was told that creating textures for someones clothing and selling them is not a infringement at all? You are not using there texture just the layout.

For any Daz items the uv map is on the product page . The free uvmapper will provide maps but cant handle multiple maps , it all goes on one page.  Any existing textures will be using the same map, so they can be used as a guide , just make sure you dont include it in the final texture product.

In poser 7 its very easy to create a mat pose from a material collection.  see attached text file.
