Subject: Sharp image on 1 sided square

brewgirlca ( ) posted Fri, 09 January 2009 at 3:58 PM · edited Sun, 08 December 2024 at 8:31 PM

I have been using Bagginsbill's advice on how to attach an image to a 1-sided square to create a background. But the image always renders slightly blurry compared to if the image is just imported as a background or pasted in with photoshop. I need to have the image on the square so that it will show up in a water reflection.

Anybody know how to make the image on the 1-sided square sharp in the materials room?

If your using Poser 7 / Poser Pro:

If your using poser 6, you can shutoff the texture filtering as part of the rendering options.

Hope that helps.

Two more points.

  1. Decreasing Min Shading Rate below 1 can help.
  2. You probably want to set Diffuse_Value = 0 and Specular_Value=0 and plug the image into Alternate_Diffuse. Only plug it into Diffuse_Color if you want your lights to light it and shadows to fall on it. For example, if the image is of a stage curtain, then light it. If it's an outdoor sky/trees/ground then don't light it - use alt diffuse. That channel is a straight passthrough to the render. The Diffuse_Color channel goes through an internal Diffuse node first.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

See, this is why I've all but given up on giving people helpful tips in the message forums.  Somebody adds information to my original post, they get thanked, I don't.. lol..

Oh well, such be life I guess.
