I inserted a plane and I then went to the texture room and opened up a sequenced.jpg of some animated water. I then rendered it but there was no motion it looked as if it was just a regular picture. Would someone please tell me how to go about this, the correct way of opening up sequenced files?

Carrara does not process sequenced files as animations for textures - they have to be in an actual .mov or .avi format.

I thought that it could be used this way since it is one of the options in the drop down box, it even asked to makes sure of the correct frame rate .

Well, you are right and I am wrong. That little feature crept up on me since I don't use a lot of animated textures.

Here's how to make it work:

  1. Import the the sequence at the point in your timeline you want the animation to start - this sets a key frame.
  2. move the timeline indicator in your time line where the animated texture should stop
  3. Advance the little movie timeline control in the texture window to the end of the move - this will set a new key frame and engage the texture as a movie.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

Mark
