AzChip, there's no rule that says I have to be logical about blaming people, you know. And you can't blame me for your phone bill, it very clearly states above that I am blameless, so there. Harbinger, I'm torn between the 6 x 8, the 9 x 12 and the 12 x 12. How does the 6 x 8 feel? I mostly move my hand in small movements, so the smaller size might be fine, as well as fit my desk better. And of course the price is nice. I just wonder how likely it is that down the road I'll wish that I had splurged and gotten the larger size. Opinons, anyone? --Terri
It is no different than using a pen - which is a little weird at first. This thing is 100% presure sensative. Your line drawings come out exactly like they would on paper. The pen tracks the cursor around the screen so if you draw small then you're fine. If you hold the pen slightly over the tablet it will move the cursor around the screen, press down on the tablet to make a line or mark - I'm not sure if the "size" factor is such a big deal. 6 x 8 is like drawing on a small sheet of paper which is what I usually do anyway so it's fine. I got my tablet retail, so I did hurt a bit. The bigger sizes where just crazy, crazy money. But I use it EVERYDAY! There seems to be NO downside (other than the slight delay problem on slower machines).
Thanks for the info. I'll go with the smaller size, then. It will probably fit on my crowded desk better, anyhow. The $100 difference in price can go into my "Lightwave" fund. Heh. (...) OK, I've done the deed and have some additional info: There was a $10 handling fee. No shipping charge. Total was $139 for a refurbished serial port 6 x 8 tablet. --Terri
From my experience with tablets, Wacoms are the BEST! I don't currently have one, but I had a 4x5, that was way to small. So the 12x12 looks like a good deal for me, plus I do a lot of work in Illustrator and I don't think I could do most of my work on a 6x8, I write big as it is! Thanks for the tip Terri!!! It is much appreciated, I think I'm going to go ahead and get myself the 12x12 at the end of this month. Jared

Dunno if any one is interested, but Wacom is selling Overstock and refurbished Intuous graphics tables, see the above link. Not sure how these prices compare to somewhere like eBay, but they come with warranty and compare very well with the prices at zdnet.com (the web site for pc shopper, good way to check prices on stuff and find reviews). See, you guys have me so pumped up about this 3D stuff, I've decided I need to get a graphics tablet and improve my drawing skills; I also think it might help me creating splines for the spline modeller and so on. So I'm off to spend more money that I probably shouldn't be spending. Not to mention that I'vem started stalking ebay for a sealed-in-box Lightwave. Hmmph. Do you guys think I'm made of money or something? Stop being so encouraging! I'd blame litst for this too, but I already blamed him for the grocery store guy, so this time I'll blame AZChip. Don't worry, no doubt you'll all get a turn. Anyway, I'm trying to decide which size I want. The 6 x 8 is only $129, and would match the monitor ratio. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. --Terri (blameless)
