Hello everyone;

I hear that blender can reduce polygons. How do I access that feature..I looked all over the menus and found nothing of that nature.

thanks

Attached Link: Decimate

radstorm,

I'm new to Blender myself but Decimate is what I think you are looking for.

Thanks keppel, yeah I am new to it too..or should say re-new..lol

I tried it before but it was so hard to navigate I gave up. looks that has improved a bit now :)

Yes I believe that is what I read people talking about..thanks again

Yup keppel that did the trick, It reduced an imported obj I had from about 211 megs down to 52 megs and still kept its shape on export.

Nice tool for free, I have looked around and there are so called poly reducers with a pretty hefty price tag.

Guess if nothing else, blender has a nice set of utilities. Who knows someday I might medicate myself and try to learn it again .. LOL

There is a script hidden in the mesh menu that also reduces polys. Its a little more complex than the decimate modifier, and also has a "retain quads" feature.

Just change to a Scripts window and go to Scripts < Mesh < Poly Reducer.

It is better to do one thing well, than to do many things and excel at nothing.
