I am trying to make a scene where the figure is holding a box in front. I want a Volumetric light to appear that it is coming from the box. From what I understand, you need a prop in back of the light so that the volumetric light shows. I have tried making the cloth plane invisible, but then the light effect doesn't show up. Leaving the cloth plane solid show the effect but also shows the cloth plane. What am I doing wrong? i"ve attached a copy withe plane visible.

Please spay and neuter your pets. Strongly consider shelter adoption before spending $500 to $1000. If you MUST part with that kind of money for a pet, go to your local shelter, donate the money to them and pickup a highly adoptable pet. The shelters could sure use the donation.

The figure itself is sufficient to show the volumetric. Alternatively you can scale the prop square large and place it well behind the figure

You got the wrong idea, VK. You don't need a prop like you have here to show the volume. You just need something in the scene.. anything. Volume will show up against any object in your scene, including your model's face and body.

For this scene, I would just put a backdrop behind your figure. Don't put anything in front of her face.

Just like in the other thread you raised on this subject... a light, a backdrop, and the Atmosphere setting.
