Subject: MAC PROBLEM OLD VISE INSTALLER

johnr1969 ( ) posted Fri, 22 May 2009 at 12:54 PM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 2:20 PM

ANY SUGGESTIONS? FAIRLY URGENT. I bought the DAZ  Hippocampus (Mermaid's Horse) but the installer requires MAC Classic which is no longer available with the version of MAC i have. Is there any way of getting the installer to work?

I have contacted DAZ but its Friday now so I may not hear back until Tuesday

Any advice gratefully received.

best

I'm afraid you're probably out of luck until Tuesday, unless you can get hold of an older Mac or a PC -- the files are the same on the PC version, so if you can get hold of a PC or a Windows emulator you can unpack them that way.

an OS 9 VISE installer would not be recognised by windows OS.  I've got an old Mac, but legally I can't do this without permission from Daz, so you must contact them. They'll be there for a few more hours today.  I've found that if I need immediate help from them, I can just call 'em on the phone.  they were supposed to have provided new installers for all those old files.  they know that nobody uses OS 9 any more.

i downloaded the pc version from DAZ and opened it on a PC then copied back to my MAC - it seems to work.

cheers
