Subject: Poser 7. I can't find my new model's cr2 file

Dear friends.
Someone kindly helped with this before, but I've forgotten the answer.

I've created a new model which shows in the Poser 7 library folder, but doesn't show in the actual browser runtime folder. Can someone tell me where the heck my cr2 has gone + its image file, or why it isn't in its folder? Only I want to edit the cr2 file.

Thank you

If Your Running Vista and installed to the default directory, that is your problem.

You might want to UN-install poser and reinstall to the root directory.   C:poser 7, then copy your runtime to this directory then reinstall your missing runtime.  I hate vista!!!!!!! :(

I use Poser 6 installed to the default directory on Vista. My custom files end up in a folder called the “Compatibility Files”.

Click on the Compatibility Files folder image takes you to them. It was annoying at first but I have gotten used of it.

YIPEEEEE!

I've now found my lost files. I was told about this before, they were in Andrew/AppData/Local/VirtualStore/Program files/e frontier/Poser 7/Runtime/Libraries/Character/'my model folder'

I didn't reinstall Poser to the root directory, as suggested, I just used the good old Poser psychic sense we develop and, as Obi Wan would have said, "The force will guide you to them!" And it did. Though why Poser puts them in that place, God only knows!!! I've now copied them to the correct runtime folder.

Thanks anyway, guys, and no, 210x2, I don't have a compatibility folder with Poser 7.

Okay, I've now found the cause of the missing cr2 files. They were there all the time in the right folder, but were invisible.

The cause is the UAC, Vista user access control, it renders the files invisible when turned on. But if you turn off UAC the cr2's and associated files are visible again. One other important thing is that any attempt to edit a cr2 will be prevented from saving by the UAC, unless it is turned off, and that includes the Poser file editor utility software available in the Renderosity store - which I have.

All I know is that having turned off UAC everything now works perfectly, so if you insist on using Vista UAC, you will have to temporarily turn it off to create new models in Poser 7, or if you want to edit the files. I'm wondering if this solution works with Poser 6, or any other version of Poser installed within Vista.

I hope this is of interest to people.

Thefixer has been trying to beat this fact into everybody using Vista.  Turn off the UAC!

That's much better than reinstallation.
I was running into this problem some time ago with another program and it was suggested I install all to the root directory which works fine and I have been doing so ever since. Turning off the UAC is much simpler.   Thanks.
