Subject: lowering polygons on imported object

Hi!

I was wondering if i can lower polygons on imported object from poser, like V4. Reason for asking this is ,when  i have more than 4 characters in vue i ran out of memory.

Thnx., :)

More than the polygon count normally the amount of (high-res) textures are the biggest problem with Poser imports into Vue. So it is worth thinking of reducing those instead of lowering the polygon count.

One trick to avoid problems maybe is to first import ÜPoser items, save them as vob and then do the actual scene with those vobs. Especially even used as ecosystem with even only one instance in it.

a) Vue Infinite can "decimate" a mesh, edit the mesh object however, it's not at all recommended for close up objects as it lowers quality, and doesn't always work out good, as it's trying to keep rough approximation of an incredibly complex object so it ha sa tendency to screw up complex parts, and most model builders have already optimized their mesh anyway.

b) Please see my Poser import tuorial in signature, this is VITAL for anyone using Poser, or other high quality imported objects in Vue :)

If you have a 64 bit rig with a ton of RAM it's less of an issue, but if you have standard 32 bit, 2 gig system, you must optimize poser imports when you have more than 2 models, or lots of stuff in the scene.

Please also note my Vue General Tips tutorial, this has tips that help with the display issues, as using large texture maps, shown on screen in OPEN GL, also use resources. so you're best displaying poser people as "Mesh with not textures"

I include a pic to explain some of this :)
