Subject: Official Guide to Using DAZ Studio

InfoCentral ( ) posted Thu, 25 June 2009 at 12:23 PM · edited Thu, 07 November 2024 at 9:32 PM

I just received this book when DAZ Studio 3 arrived on the scene.  Is this book still useful or has the interface changed between Studio 2 and 3?

mishamcm ( ) posted Thu, 25 June 2009 at 12:35 PM

The book doesn't cover the new features of DS3, but it's pretty much all still applicable.

So the interface hasn't changed that much form Studio 2 to 3?

JenX ( ) posted Thu, 25 June 2009 at 6:53 PM

It hasn't changed at all, that I can see.  There may be a few new tabs that you can add, but it's still the same interface.

Great!  Than I won't bother installing Studio 2.  I'll just install 3 Advanced.  Thanks...

Why not use both?  if you have plugins for 2, some of them don't work in 3 yet.

I'll have to look into that.  I though the plug-ins were all upgraded to 3...

mishamcm ( ) posted Fri, 26 June 2009 at 6:30 AM

Some of them haven't been upgraded yet or are still in QA.

Stuff like PW Surface and a few others have not been upgraded yet.  Meanwhile, other things are included in DS3 Advanced.

The book is pure hogwash! Nothing of worth within its pages.... The only good thing is the DVD with some useful items like Carrara and Hexagon, although I wondered why they put version 6.1 on the disk instead of the latest version of Carrara. For the record, this book is a rip off... No useful method of how to use the tabs, or setup the content folders or anything of importance or how to use lighting... just superficial gloss over of nothing . I wouldn't call it a manual.  A book, yes, but not a manual. Lovely gallery pictures tho from DAZ gallery.

I have to agree with you.  I was really disappointed that there aren't any tutorials. The book is very heavy in color images but devote of substance.

I se Daz has quit selling the book.  I wonder if there is a new book in the works?

Dunno... probably would be a total revamp of the book to include some kind of tutorial... The last one stunk!!!

It was absent of tutorials.  Not a very good book for learning Studio with that's for sure.

The book is useless but I do think Daz have done a good job with their new documentation under the help tab in the menu bar.
