Subject: Video tutorials - which software?

IO4 ( ) posted Sun, 02 August 2009 at 12:04 AM · edited Mon, 29 July 2024 at 11:08 PM

Hi all

I was just thinking about maybe doing some video tutorials to post here, but I don't know the first thing about making them, or what to use. Can anyone suggest some good (free if possible ) software or any sites that give tutorials on what to do?

Any replies are most appreicated.

Eve

That would be the free Camstudio. at http://camstudio.org/

You may be able to use the video editor in windows xp to clean up the capture . Or check www.videohelp.com for some free editing utilities.

Thanks very much:)

Is it possible to convert the file format used in Camstudio though to the one required by Renderosity for file upload?

as far as I know  camstudio can use any codec for creating the avi file. I have a utility that converts to flash but I dont remember if thats part of Camstudio or an add-on. The Tec-smith codedc is very popular for tutorials because of its good compression and quality.

OS X users may wish to try copernicus for the screencap and visualhub for the conversion.  ffmpegx is sometimes recommended, but is user-hostile compared to visualhub IMVHO.  but whether OS X or the alternatives, is gonna require that somebody do a video tutorial on how to do video tutorials.

Yes, a video tutorial would be a great idea.
