Subject: poser 8 configuration incorrect

GeneralNutt ( ) posted Wed, 05 August 2009 at 2:23 AM · edited Tue, 19 November 2024 at 8:59 PM

I keep getting this error after installing.
"This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

I have reinstalled many times, redownloaded the program, turned off anti-virus, emptied temp folders, but still this error on start up. I can't seem to find any info on poser 8 on smith micro.

Did you do the installer first?  You have to unpack the installer, then put the other 2 content exe. within that folder...did you do that?  Sharen

If you still have issues, contact Support with the details. Include System Details and your Order Number.

That's useful info, Sharen;  thanks. :D
It might be a few days before I have the content zips, though. =O
Fortunately, I'm not terribly anxious about getting the download right now.  It will all get settled down in time.  ^o^

I am getting this same error. I have downloaded everything but the legacy content, and followed the instructions for unzipping the folders as stated in the pdf, and it still won't work :(  I didn't see this thread when I posted my problem, so I will watch this one and mine and see if we can find a solution :)

I Checked that I had flash 10, explorer 7 (even though I only normally use it for windows updates). My machine is not a powerful machine, but it is quite a bit more than the minimum requirements for poser.

I unzipped the installers and the content, placed the unzipped content into the content folder. I also tried it without the content. I Uninstalled and reinstalled, reinstalled over an install. I tried to install over night and during the day. I do not like to install. I do not like it anyway.

I have to go work now, but I'll check back here afterwords then I'll contact them if not resolved. I am using XP home too, and installing under Admin account. I am using the 3 rd content option (runtime with in poser directory), and installing the application on different internal hard drive than the windows OS.

I have got an answer from tech support and my problem is solved :) Here is what they told me to do. Hope this works for anyone having this problem, and if not contact Customer support, they were a great help to me! P8 is now up and running, and I did not have to install the legacy content.

It appears your system did not take one of the included updates. You will need to download and install the Update from Microsoft available here...

Warning.. if you have 64 Bit OS and get that error, it is a different File I believe.

I went ahead and got the 64 bit one also and installed them both :D  I'm on a 64-bit OS.  I didn't get the error but it's rock solid after installing them.  Figured it couldn't hurt.
