Subject: Importing Collections

I spent weeks and weeks arranging the collections in Poser 7 to have my library set up just the way I want. Now Poser 8 has arrived and it seems that Collections has been renamed to favorites. So I figured I could just drag and drop my P7 collections folder into my P8 collections folder, right? Problem is P8 won't recognize any of teh PNG image files from the old P7 folder, even though it creates a PNG image for any new favorites it uses.

Someone please tell me there's a way to import these thousands of shortcuts into P8 and be visable.

Fixed in SR1, I believe. I already have a preview copy of SR1 and copying my collections from Poser Pro worked fine. (I don't have Poser 7 on my laptop but it should be the same.)

I think the released version didn't display thumbnails from collections correctly.

Note: IMO, there should not be any thumbnail PNG files in Collections. There should just be links to the real files and the real thumbnails should be used. But I think SM decided to maintain compatibility with the old way, so I guess the PNG files are going to be duplicated.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

There's no need for compatibility with the old way as even Poser 7 could work with references to the png files (although it didn't create references)...

I did not mean links to the PNG. I would like to see a single lnk file to the actual prop or figure or whatever in collections and nothing else. Poser should read the lnk, find the real file and its matching PNG, and use the PNG that exists already with the real file.

I understand it requires opening every LNK file, but it has to already. This is how the GUI works - it wants, for any favorites folder, a list of the LNK files. For each it wants the full path to the real file it represents, and the full path to a thumbnail.

On another related note, anyone know of  a script out there that can change all my shotcuts to point to the Poser 8 folder directory instead of teh Poser 7. I'd like to move everything over and clear P7 off my machine. (Saddly  the python importing script only seems to cash P8)

it's happened before; I got problems importing between P5 and P5...;)

Wasn't there something called Correct Reference in freebies? By Hogfather, or Hogwarden, or someone like that? Would it work on P8?
