Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 07 11:07 am)
Really they are in the same place? That is very new, as in previous updates to SR1 for beta testing did not mix the two. They must have had a request from somebody to make them the same.
I had issues with this myself because I was doing a test render of the same scene in PPro and P8 and I couldn't do the swipe/compare thing from render cache. The Pro render was not in the P8 render cache. I had to save the two images and do a flip test comparison with another tool.
LOL
Every decision has pros and cons. Seems like the only solution is to have a preference parameter that lets you decide whether you want render caches separated or combined.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
It was an issue before SR1 as well. Whenever I've got Poser Pro and P8 open (with or without SR1) it does this render cache distortion. I'm using WindowsXP.
I must admit that I didn't report it though, since I haven't used Poser Pro that much, only for some testing lately.

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(
Food for thought.....

I have no idea if this applies to the windows versions of Poser.
On a mac, your render cache for both PoserPro and P8 are stored in the same place. If you bounce back and forth between apps to use the render in background feature of pro, and or you have different settings of how many renders to save in cache between P8 and PoserPro....
Couldn't under stand why when I tried to compare two P8 renders I got a test render I had run on PoserPro instead of the two P8 renders...and the fact that my P8 render cache had been erased because I have the render cache in PoserPro set extremely low at 2 and in P8 I have it set at 4.
Filed a bug report and hopefully they will change the path of the cache to align with the version number like they do with the settings in SR2.
