Subject: Looking for armour (plate,chainmail,gauntlets,helmets,etc)

SpectralShadows ( ) posted Sat, 06 February 2010 at 3:39 PM · edited Sat, 30 November 2024 at 12:32 PM

I'm trying to find some good armour for Michael 2, but having trouble finding stuff in Renderosity FreeStuff  (no way to say "only show me clothes for M2" in the search).

I'm not looking for textures, I just want pieces of armour I can attach to my figures and have them automatically positioned and rotated to fit the pose I've set.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't know any free set of armor for Mike2. Poserworld has a lot of stuff for Mike 2, but the membership isn't free.

What exact kind of Armor do you have in mind? Some arm and leg guards would be easy to do, but I don't know if that's what you want.

Pseudo-medieval fantasy is what I'm going for.
(But not so much the exotic/over-stylised stuff that you often see.)

I guess I'm not actually limited to Mike 2 - used him for a Barbarian character since he's the only one with (default) body morphs/injections for doing muscles - but I suppose the other characters wont need that, and the barbarian is the one char not needing much armour.

So yeah, stuff for M3 / M4 or David is probably also fine.

What you need is to find armour which you can load into a scene without parenting them to the figure, then resize and position them to fit your model. Drag the armour to the figure, do not select 'fit to' button'.  I find this method good with armour pieces, but the clothing will be another story.

DAZ has some Base Model for FREE now, so you can add them to your library of characters if this helps you.

I've got all the free daz base models - that's how I've got the male characters at all (since Studio only comes with Victoria4 initially).

What specificaly type of armour are you looking for?
I will see if I can find some on my old CDs I use for archining stuff.

For my current scene, some form of standard swordsman's platemail - nothing fancy, but at least two or more styles (since having a battle with all soldiers looking the same makes no sense).

(along the lines of these images: one two three)

But any different styles you might have would be cool - I always come up with different ideas that I want to do. :)

I found this old vest still FREE at Sharecg.com I believe, which you can edit to fit almost any character.
Chainmail vest
The chainmail texture is available for free by me if you require it too.

The last one can be retextured to better suit your needs.
