nope. it is not the case at all.

install poser 7 outside of Program Files or alter your UAC (User Account Control) and posers 5,6,7, Pro etc run just fine.
(I'm running the above on Windows 7 64bit, installed outside of the Program Files folders with no issues.)

I have Poser 6, 8 and Pro 2010 installed on Windows 7 Pro 64Bit and they all three run just fine.

Yep, forgot to mention I have Poser 8 installed on my netbook outside of the program files folder :o) I also might mention I also run P8 on an older Vista POS desktop on which it also runs fine...lmao.

Since I have UAC turned completly off so Vue will run I installed Poser in it's default directory with the runtimes in their classic location and have had ZERO problems, P7, P8 Pro2010

Just install it, under >Program files or elsewhere.

Just do NOT install the runtimes there.

Put those under your user folders.

I think, it is the uppermost option during the content installation process.

I run Poser 8 and Poser Pro2010, on anything from a quadcore with 6GB RAM to a netbook (N270 CPU with 1GB RAM) without problems.

Windows 7 Home Pro 64 bit

Windows 7, 32 bit

Windows 7 Starter (on the netbook)

Windows XP 32 bit

Poser 8 became pretty stable after the SR2.1.

PoserPro2010 never gave installations or operational problems. (touch wood)

Poser 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, P8 and PPro2010, P9 and PP2012, P10 and PP2014 Game Dev
