Subject: looking for monk hair

Jules53757 ( ) posted Tue, 06 April 2010 at 2:42 PM · edited Tue, 19 November 2024 at 1:40 PM

I'm looking around for a monks hair like this one:

I'm pretty sure I had one in my freestuff collection but I'm unable to find it.

Any hint would be a great help.

I had one, old, and no textures from 3DSC Medieval project, http://jalberts.net/francemi/3dSC/medieval.htm.

Made by "Xantor," the readme simply says "There is no texture for this hairstyle but at least you'll have a medieval monk hairstyle that you can texture yourself."

It was originally designed for M3.

Thanks but, this one I have and it looks like a big bean on the head but not like a tonsure. Also, there are some strange vertices in the mesh.

If you come up with something, shout it out. I'd be interested as well.

Alternatively, I propose your using dynamic hair, if you have Poser 6 or higher version.

Go into Hair Room, use grouping tool, select the meshes of the scalp area you want the hair to grow out from, generate the dynamic hair, style as required using parameter settings provided.  Apply cololuration via Material Room.

Some of us use DAZ Studio or have terribly slow computers. 😉

Maybe Mitch Hair from Daz3D 2008 24 Days of Christmas (day 3)
[Edit] or by April Vanity Shop

Well the hair by AprilSH is usable, only changing the Trans map and it fits (nearly). Dynamic hair I don't like.

As I expected, not perfect but it fulfills my needs. Twice the hair and a little bit of rotation, scaling and a changed trans map and here is the result:

What did you use?

Jules53757 ( ) posted Wed, 07 April 2010 at 3:43 PM

I used the free Mitch hair by AprilSH , changed the trans map, took a 2nd one for the front, exported both wavefronts as one object, loaded it, textured with the old hair tex and the new transmap and saved it as hr2.
