Subject: My 2 Dumb Poser Questions of the day

grichter ( ) posted Fri, 23 April 2010 at 9:06 PM · edited Tue, 30 July 2024 at 8:13 AM

1.) Would doing a massive search and replace on a bunch of Cr2's and changing defaultPick hip:1 to defaultPick BODY:1 have any effect on super conforming clothes or have any other known issues or adverse effects?

2.) since PoserPro 2010 has a setting called conformScale, which if set to 1 in the cr2, will make the confirming figure scale to that of the character you are conforming the figure to. Does anybody think it would be dangerous to do another search and replace and look for conforming 1 and change to

conforming 1
conformScale 1

I have created my own scaling sets to change the height of many of my characters to different variations. One, almost everything loads with the defaultpick as the hip and you have to change to the body to manually set the confromscale to on. Two, since most of my characters are scaled, and not just body (xyz), it would save a lot of time if all my clothes and or figure hair loaded and when conformed also scaled without me having to worry about the setting being on.

In testing I can see no adverse effect with changing either. But I have only tested a few hairs and confirming clothes items. Before I go crazy and do most of my runtimes, thought I would check to see if someone with more knowledge might see either of these as something not to do.

Thanks
Gary

I always build figures with defaultPick set to BODY, and always change
existing figures to defaultPick BODY before I use them.   Haven't run into any problems yet,
haven't received any complaints either.

Thanks a bunch for the reply. Off to give my text editor which can do whole folders in one shot a whirl. Granted everything is backed up if something goes haywire :)

You know.. I don't think there can be any dumb questions when it comes to Poser.

I know I've called Poser dumb a few times... and a few more words I won't say on here

These two dumb questions went straight over my head.  Does that make me super dumb?

Just so I understand, exactly what advantages accrue from making this change in the Cr2?

The advantage is that when the conforming figure loads in PP2010, you can click on the properties pallet and set the check box to conform and scale easier. Plus for your main figures like V4 or M4, I have my python pallet docked and one of the main scripts I use is turn IK off. So then I can move the figure in the scene to where I want because the Body is selected instead of mistakenly moving by the hip.

It's Earth Day celebration time, and I am just trying to conserve clicks

More of a personal preference thing. The default behavior of defaultpick being the hip just got annoying  to me to the point I wanted to see if I could do something about it.

Would these advantages accrue to my default figures Posette & Dork?  Or is this only true of the Daz Pachyderms?

In my case I want it to occur in all my various lesser quality chassis, including various accouterments and coiffures.
