I'm working on a new seal and salmon scene that I will eventually paint on a larger scale.  I'm trying to get the composition right.  Looking for an aggressive and dynamic composition.  Suggestions appreciated. R

Oh yeah, Daz seal with fur and salmon I modeled some time ago.

Run, fish, run! Oops... Swim, fish, swim!
I suggest shorter fur on the seal's head and edges of the flippers. Maybe some kind of wavy lines in the water indicating the little currents of fish movement...?

I like the suggestions for the seal's fur - yes, it is a bit of a mess.  The water movement might pose an interesting problem without post production work.  I'm using fog and clouds for the variations in the water.  Maybe tiny bubbles to indicate movement...

Also, the sunlight coming through needs to be broken up with a mask.  I can't seem to find the examples posted some time ago... great blk/white masks for underwater lighting.

Thank you.  I'm also trying to find a post over at the Daz forum that featured beautiful examples of sun rays from Carrara8 beta.  Sun rays would look good cutting through the water.

The sunrays inC8 are pretty much a pita.
Everything has to be set "exactly" so to get the effect.

The regular Light "lens Flare" options can more easily/effectivly be applied to a scene I think.

I was having trouble with the lens flare.  Couldn't get it to work.  Still working in 7 for this project. This is it so far.

Sorry if I mislead you----I think both the lens flair and the rays would only be effective in the sky (atmosphere)--the distant light, as a sunlight, would have to be visable in the scene?
Be seen through and above the water?.

The gradual blurring out of the fish is perfect!

I know these look very similar, but I've been trying to play with several variables.  This is another attempt at making the bubbles look realistic... still not getting the lighting right using a gel over the spot.

The gel pattern should show up on the top skin of the fish/animals.

It would be much more dramatic if the salmon were eating the seal.
