Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
It should be possible, you can assign a movie node to pretty much anything AFAIK,so why not the floor?
Mind you, I haven't actually tried the movie node ever, and I vaguely remember something about setting the frame number ect to make it work :)
Most likely one of the more movie-savvy people will pop in here soon :)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
You can apply the movie to any UV mapped surface. For a floor, you might plug a simple flashing-color-squares movie into the ambient node to make a disco floor. Or you could cast "shadows" of blowing autumn leaves.
You don't need to use a frame number node or modify the frame number unless you want to change play speed or shift the start/stop timing.
Plug a wavy movie into the displacement to make an animated water plane, or use it to control the normals and you have swaying windblown grass.
What specifically do you want to do?
Bubbles for the jukebox' neon tubes. ^^
Now, a warning: if you're using Poser Pro or Poser Pro 2010 and rendering in 64bit, you'll likely find the movie node nonfunctional due to lack of corresponding 64bit video codec. In these cases, I use a matrix instead of the movie node.
Poser 12, in feet.
OSes: Win7Prox64, Win7Ultx64
Silo Pro 2.5.6 64bit, Vue Infinite 2014.7, Genetica 4.0 Studio, UV Mapper Pro, UV Layout Pro, PhotoImpact X3, GIF Animator 5

That 'esplains the other issue I had with PP2010 and rendering a movie!!

If you are going to work on just a ground plane, then you should at least use a displacement map to create stream banks. It would be better to use a terrain with a stream bed trough formed into the mesh, and a separate water plane, if you can.Another consideration would be a wake for the barge. I've done this by using a mesh wake model attached to the boat, and applying the same displacement AVI to the wake which I used on the water, but at different scale. It certainly isn't perfect, but it's better than no wake. I often use Jepe's water ripple AVI set.
Here's a streambed terrain and a waterplane with Jepe's AVI using the Cyclorama:
Another animation using AVI water displacement: (click tiny rectangle)
boat wake and waterplane both displacement mapped with an AVI:
Did this help? I could also extract the wake mesh from my sailboat, and you can use my streambed terrain if you want it, though right now I'm pretty busy with finishing the TinkerBell's Drive-in Cafe' model (hence the jukebox. ^^)
You'll need a water AVI. I just bought a commercial Genetica license, but it's intended for a workstation which I don't even have yet, so it will be quite a while before I can make my own water ripple AVIs.

Greetings all;
I was wondering if it is possible to put animated movies on Poser's floor?
I know it can be done as a background, so just curious :)
Thanks
