Lucinda.............sorry it is so hot there.

Me too!  But it's typical for us in August.... And September.   We'll start to cool down in October.

Meisiekind ( ) posted Tue, 03 August 2010 at 2:09 AM

LOL @ Lucinda... Nobody is moving much because of the heat!!! It just sounds so funny!!!
Good luck there!

:-)  I'll keep my eyes peeled for someone shaking off the torpor.  I could take shots of people heading towards the air conditioning.  Sometimes we speed up a bit for that.

What a splended shot, Carin.
When Lucinda was talking about the heat, I thought go to a pool and take action picture's from into the water. And you did it.  GREAT!
Oh, I hope your flu will flew away, very soon,  it's no fun, huh?

Now we are looking forward for "Action Kopenhagen".  I'm curious, Helle!

helanker ( ) posted Thu, 05 August 2010 at 10:37 AM

LOL ! Well it depends on the rules here.
As said, I  took alot of motion shots, but that was from the car, so actually it is from the opposite POV, so I dont know. It seems not quite as exiting, as the other way around
I can not afford to waste one of my three attempts. ...................................

I couldnt find a good motionshot between the shots of yesterday. Atleast not with trails. Yet i got some fun and interesting shots taken from the rolling car, but just  for the fun I will show you a movie lol and if Carin wants to remove it, it is ok, because i am not sure this goes with this challenge

dochtersions ( ) posted Thu, 05 August 2010 at 2:35 PM

When Carin see this, she for sure become right better from flu.

Thanks Carin, I know it could have been done better, but it was without tripod and done by chance to get at least one decent shot and if you had seen HOW i took the shots, you would agree that it couldnt have been done much better. On my hurting knees and my elbows and my hubby standing behind me laughing. I am a "big " Lady, so it must have been a priceless sight.

LOL Helle!  Hilarious drawing!  Your shot was so good, maybe I should risk my knees and elbows.   The laughing husband I have on hand.

At Meisiekind's suggestion I'm entering this.  I've never entered a photography challenge before; you folks are just too good and out of my league.  I usually do some Bryce challenges but this is a first here.

Awesome shots both from Willie and Dave. Let the fun begin :-)

auntietk ( ) posted Fri, 06 August 2010 at 10:23 PM

Excellent shots, everybody!

And for you who are new to this ... don't worry about the "challenge" part of it.  We're just challenging ourselves to become better photographers.  There's nothing at stake here ... nothing on the line ... just lots of laughs and a really good time!

Not the newest shot, but it was taken about 2 months ago.  Thunder is the most lively thing and I have been practicing action shots on her.  This was my first action shot that came out decent. But more practice was in order!  Fortunately, she never stops moving and I've had plenty of practice since!

And Thunder looks so happy and lively indeed.

Bravo, Mies.

This was a more recent one and although she twisted away from me at the last minute, you have no idea how fast she was moving. :-)  I was lucky to get this! She is so very fast and was running for me but looped away just as I took my shot.

Here's my first one. With my grandson visiting, I knew I would catch some action when I took him up to see Abraham Lake, and that's my backup camera he's running with. I have no worries, however, as I believe he's more sure-footed running than I am walking. Of course he's hamming it up in this shot. BTW, he took more photos than I did on this trip, so perhaps it runs in the family.

In this one he's not aware that I'm taking photos, he's just running across the rocks. These two sequential shots were as fast as my D300 could take them. It's amazing how quickly the brain plans the next step along with the decisions about where to land next.

@Dave - That moorhen image is superb! Excellent timing to get the splash of take-off! Well done Dave!

@ PJ - I had such a great giggle when looking at your marvelous shots of Thunder! Gosh, he seems to be more than a hand full! You did very well catching this lightning fast thunder PJ!!! The bottom pic almost looks like he stopped momentarily to scratch!!!

@ Whaleman - I freak out when looking at those antics! What wonderful images of this sure footed and handsome young grandson of yours! Wonderful action shots!

One last action shot because I just don't see much action from my back yard, but I've had so much fun chasing her around the yard this weekend that I think I'm too tired to get out for awhile and find another subject. Miss Thunder is all the action I can take. :-)

Hi, I've missed some shots here, I see; and what for SHOTS!!!!
Amazing to see your face in splash,  skiwillgee! Great action.

Oh, and that funny Moorhen on the run, exiting entry, Dave.

P.J., Thunder seems to want to attack, it looks as.

Whaleman, Your grandson looks like a stuntman. WOW!

Till next time, and hopefully you're feeling a bit better, Carin (?)

Many greetings,
Mies.
