Subject: Making and saving textures for clothes

angiexx2 ( ) posted Wed, 18 August 2010 at 12:41 PM · edited Thu, 15 August 2024 at 5:12 PM

Im starting to make textures for clothes.

for example I use the surfaces tab in Daz 3 to bring in the textures have made for the clothes am using.

How do I save the textures for both daz and poser use.

I am totally lost in the file structure, what needs to be in what file etc and what is the file tree, and how do the textures get saved etc ie jpeg ? or something else

Any help is really appreciated

thans

Angie

which version of daz are you using?  and in the daz freepository there are two scripts that can be used for doing that  for ds3 tlc has the CPM script that i believe can be found here in the freebies aswell and i'm sorry cant remember the script name or author for the ds2 script

Im using daz 3 not the advanced version

I have the tlc script and have used it, but am not sure once have the file saved how to package it up for use in both daz and poser, i have it saved for poser 4 up and for daz 2 upwards,

I start off in uvmapper and load the model ie obj file, save that so can use it in psp make the texture there load it into daz via the surfaces tab

that bit goes fine

use the tlc script and save it to a folder on my computer but it has a few files there in the following order

the mesh
the jpeg I made in psp
p4
p5
p6
pp

these are the mat files which is what I save it as

but am not sure how to package this up so its usable for others in both poser and daz etc ie as a zip file etc

well if you are packaging up pose files to apply the mat poses you are making set them up in the same manner you would find another type you have the runtime/libraries + textures

in your textures folder put a folder for your testures and place them in there

in the libraries put a pose folder then in there put a folder that indicates your mat poses and inside that put your mat poses

make sure you save your mat poses and textures after you have your setup ready or save them in your runtime and mimic the folders outside your runtime to put the files in

oh yeah and remember if you are going to change the names of any of the files to resave the mat poses again before copying them to the outer runtime folder for packaging.  then take your zip program and add to archive then rename the archive to what you want it to be so people know the product and zip it

then open your zip ( not extract) to double check everything is in there

oh there is a ds file in there aswell

ok sooooooooo if am reading right

the file would be

runtime
with the following folders in there
textures
libraries
pose folder goes in the libraries folder ?

the texture i make would go in the textures folder thats the jpeg ?
the mesh am not sure where that would go ?
the pose would that be the matfiles I make ? or do they go in the texture folder

this is the bit that so looses me

yeah the pose would be the matfiles you make not sure about the mesh if you are meaning that you made the piece you are texturing the .obj would most likely go into the geometries folder(also in the runtime folder) and the cr2 or whichever file it is that makes the mesh come into the screen would most likely go into the libraries/character(or prop) folder unless it's a hair then it would go into the hair folder or character folder
