is this it ?

do i need help yet ?

We all need help my friend....lmao. Mine tops out at 30 gigs but that's only a fraction of what I actually have bought ;o). Add in all that and it would be up over a hundred gigs easy...hehe.

You're close. GB is an interesting number, but with gigantic texture sets, it's not really a direct measure of how many things you ignore in your runtime, but more about how big they are. A hundred texture files can be the same size as 10,000 poses you never use.

So I think the file count is more indicative of how addicted to content you are. 169 thousand files is pretty good. But...

During testing of the Poser 8 library, I had users with 1 million files.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Oh i know ,

this is only on like 20 DVD's out of well over 50 4.7G DVD's i own...crazy what we buy.

and i guarentee you i havent used close to half of what i own back in the day when i used Poser even.

I dont even use Poser anymore, went with DS and export into obj to Vue or Cinema 4D.

WOW, i wish there was a way to calculate the money i have spent. Maybe when i retire and my kids move out i will have time :D

@ **bagginsbill

I clean my runtime weekly, get rid of all the "overhead" such as readmes, and readmenot's andall the other blah blah blah that a lot of "ego maniacs" in the Poser content world use to be first, or not forgotten.

As long as we're doing this, I thought I'd step up to the virtual locker room and show mine. (Am I the only one who gets a sense of being back in high school?)

And this does NOT include what I bought for Clark, Aiko3, and all the other marginal characters that I finally decided to purge a few months back. It was about 1.1 TB back then.

And yes... I do delete all the readme's and other garbage files. This is CONTENT!

And I've STILL got $%#^ on my wishlist!!!!!

grichter ( ) posted Wed, 22 September 2010 at 2:08 PM

The definition of an addiction is much more simple then you think. Do you have a folder-directory on your computer named "runtime" ?

I do have a definitive answer to the question "What defines addiction", but don't have time to give it now because I need to get more coffee, chocolate biscuits, and a good stiff drink (but at least my Runtime is only three and a half GB)!

LaurieA ( ) posted Wed, 22 September 2010 at 2:24 PM

Coffee and chocolate...ooooohhhhh.....

R.P.Studios ( ) posted Wed, 22 September 2010 at 2:28 PM

Hm, if you had to step up and show yours in high school locker rooms i assume you went to a seminary school LOL

Laylah ( ) posted Wed, 22 September 2010 at 2:41 PM

I have 221 gigs of external runtime, no DS files and/or readmes in them I store the readme elsewhere, I did reduce my spending recently unless something really sweeps me off my feet I kinda figure I have everything by now :P

How do you guys keep all of this sorted, and remember what you have and where it is?!!

whilst there are dozens of sub-categories in DSM-V on revisions to "Substance-Related Disorders" (which they may change to "Addiction and Related Disorders"), they've also got one on users who collect things (see att lnk). in case anybody asks.

How about addiction including folk who acquire items (commercial and free), and don't install everything immediately ?

And then months later, they realise they have several external hard drives' worth of installation files....

edgeverse ( ) posted Thu, 23 September 2010 at 6:44 AM

Well put, infinity.
My 1.5 Terrabyte external has well over a gig or so of installation files for poser and ds as well as free stuff I picked up along the way.

Before I had the external, I used to store them all on 7 USB/flash drives.

Ummm, I have content in Poser 4, 5, 6, 7, Poser Pro, and Poser 8. Poser Pro and P8 are in my Laptop, the other programs are in my external along with all my downloads from the last four years. I have disks in storage in Dallas that contain downloads for Poser stretching back to 1998. This screenshot is just of my Poser Pro in my C drive.

I have to learn how to keep separate runtimes on a DVD instead of on my drive.  Is it possible with Poser 6?  Is there a tutorial for that?

I think collecting things qualifies as an addiction.  I collect junk.  It fills the garage and storage sheds as well as my hard drives.  When I say junk, I do not mean heroin.

I love libraries, but read mostly digital books anymore.

Sorry to troll, but geez, calm down already. If you ask a nebulous question like this you should be big enough to accept whatever comments people care to give, literal or not, without going into a flat, vulgar spin about it.
