Subject: Screwed Up Directories(?)

GreenHawke ( ) posted Sun, 17 October 2010 at 5:48 PM · edited Sat, 04 January 2025 at 3:24 AM

I'm embarrassed...  In my attempt to "organize" my contents, I believe I have caused a problem.  I changed the names of some of the directories of the meshes/models (i.e.,  "DAZ People" --> "MODEL - DAZ People").  Since then, I have begun to have problems finding things after installation.

Anyone got a suggestion?  I reinstalled DAZ Studio 3.  That just gave me more directories with different names.  The problem still exists.  Just installed some new clothes and they are not apparent from within DAZ.

Some one please help this poor idiot....

Thank you...

Kevin

Go to Edit>Preferences>Directories and post what it says for "DS native format content folders" and "Poser-format content folders".

This is it:

C:/Users/aarons/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio3/content
C:/Users/aarons/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio3/ShaderMixer/Shader Mixer Presets/Presets
C:/Program Files/DAZ 3D/Carrara8

Use the long bar at the top that says "DS (native) format content folders" and switch it to "Poser format" and post what's listed there.  Are you using Category view or Folder view?

 Thank you...

DAZ Studio Formats (Native):
C:/Users/aarons/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio3/content
C:/Users/aarons/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio3/ShaderMixer/Shader Mixer Presets/Presets

Poser Formats (Import):
C:/Users/aarons/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio3/content
C:/Program Files/DAZ 3D/Carrara8

Other Supported Formats (Import):
C:/Users/aarons/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio3/ShaderMixer/Shader Mixer Scenes/Scenes

I'm not sure what you're asking about the Category View or Folder View.  I am using the default setting for the content.

Did you do a "Search for Content" after renaming the folders?

Poser Formats (Import):
C:/Users/aarons/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio3/content
C:/Program Files/DAZ 3D/Carrara8

these two will not be seen by studio a poser content folder unless there is a runtime inside of them, and then only what is inside of that runtime will be seen by studio.
the items you renamed.............can you be more specific what you renamed??
you can not rename geometries folders or textures folders in a poser runtime.

No, I can't remember what the exact changes were.  Is there any way to have DAZ put the folders back the way they were?

Man...  Was just trying to organize things...

I suppose the best way to fix things up is to completely remove DAZ then reinstall it and all of my clothes, hair, etc.?
