Well, there certainly aren't any D|S programmers over here, so I'd call this whole thread a complete waste of time.

What was your purpose in posting this here?

starlitemoon ( ) posted Mon, 15 November 2010 at 1:46 PM

I found it helpful. I know I won't bother getting DAZSTUDIO 4 any time soon

Woot!  And there was the purpose.  But I really don't think you have to worry, because D|S4 isn't happening anytime soon.

Maybe you could post a link to some of your animations you've done with a different program, yes?

Personally, I don't do animations and its such a small part of what Studio actually can do..I Know I'll be getting the next version of Daz.

The problem with those requests is that they want a professional animation package in a hobbyist piece of software.  Ain't ever gonna happen.

There's a reason professional animation packages sell for thousands of dollars, and we'll never see them in a hobbyist package.

How more people know, about this animate problems how better it is.

requests for high animation improvements in dazstudio 4!

the time of old poser lacks should be over!

it is time to evoluate more to blender and lightwave or highend 3dmax, maya in the feature.

a new tool specially for high end ""character animation"".

above vids, are showing just a few problems about animation problems in studio advanced 3.

the biggest problem is the rigging of the models of 4th generation figures.

you know it all, wrong joint bending, horrible textures because the joints at shoulder, knees, and more, problems with the hip rotation and mess in some poses...

Generation 5 figures should been better rigged!

well, why are those tools avaible in free blender tool?

i mean a good rigging setup, body deformers, good sequencer tools...

(daz always use the same figures, M4, V4, Miki, or whatever model)

all humanoid and same rigged skeleton structure.

so why not studio or poser programs? the days people do only still renders are all most over.

people would like to start "character" animation. with poser figures, daz figures, or whatever you like.  poser or daz = "character studio"

hobby's evoluate..., so the programs.

poser 3 = almost same as poser pro or poser 8 (= useless)

i don't like to see the same happen with dazstudio program.

or join the forces to 1 new better tool for all of us.

The bottom line is simple.  You are NEVER going to see thousand dollar software in hunderd dollar hobby tools.

If you need those tools, spend the money and get what the pros use.

Or learn Blender, it's FREE, but has a very steep learning curve. Sigh!

BTW I don't do animation either because unfortunatley I just don't have the time to put into it. Deeper sigh!

Well one thing is for sure...if you want to suggest that anything that Daz makes be changed or improved...this isn't the place to be asking...take it to Daz!

hobby tools? for pro or advanced version of programs, i expect pro tools, not?

all those tools are in free blender program = 0,00 $

FrankT ( ) posted Sat, 20 November 2010 at 6:29 PM

And they work a lot better in Max than they do in Blender (having used both)

What are you going to render it in ? The Blender engine isn't up to MentalRay standards yet

So, use Blender.  Why are you so worried about DazStudio, then if all those great, free programs do everything you need?

Oh, yeah, something about a render engine, right?

well dazstudio could be a wonderfull "charater studio" i mean not a modeller, but just to do figure animation. mimics, rigging, animate, dynamic clothes & hair. & deformers for the skins.

a tool that can be used in other high end 3d programs, games,....

with these things daz could reach to a higher level in the 3d world.

daz should follow it 's own way, and leave poser behind!

if poser don't like to evoluate..

FrankT ( ) posted Sun, 21 November 2010 at 1:12 PM

You really don't get it do you.

Lets suppose DAZ decide "Oh - we'll use the 3DS MAX Biped or CAT rig" off they go to Autodesk and say
"Guys - we want to use the BIPED or CAT rig in our software, there isn't any problem with that is there ??"
Once Autodesk have stopped laughing, the response will either be GTFO or "Sure, it'll cost you $5 million for the technology and $1 million a year to licence it"

If DAZ changes the rigging system they use to something similar to Biped or CAT, it will break every single model they have ever released. Imagine how happy people will be?

No more base figures for $0 any more.  They will have to recoup the R&D cost somehow.  Take a look at how much BIPED rigged characters go for on TurboSquid.  You will be in for a nasty surprise.
DAZ is aimed at hobbyist artists not production studios.  I really don't think they could compete against Autodesk somehow.

well hello, we are almost 2011!

3d is evoluate very very fast,

isn't it time to start with a new and better product line?

& forget the past....

many people would be happy if new features will be finally possible in a good, fast & easy way!

FrankT ( ) posted Mon, 22 November 2010 at 2:20 PM

people will not be happy if all their $1,000s of dollars of purchases no longer work.
There's no point discussing this with you, you appear to have no idea how the CG world actually works and are not interested in finding out.

who said, no longer work? it will always work with the figures we have now V4 to V1.

but 'm only talking about the new 5th generation figures.

if we not like to evoluate, we never can made changes to something better, not?

soon or later daz or poser will lose posetoolstudio against something new & better.

changes are needed for future perspectives.

(heard rumors, blender would start a pre-production for some kind of character studio in 2011) but only rumors for now.

Great!  Looks like Blender is going to be a perfect match for you.  Everything you want, for free, and nothing left to complain about.  Perfect!

free? it don't have to be free for me.

if the price is 500 or 600$ for a good pro/avanced program. i'll buy it with any pleasure.

but i expect pro features and not some re-work off old technology.

Zbrush is what i can call a good program :)
