Just trying out a magnifying lens in poser.

Here's one with the lens.

And one without.

Probably not necessary, but it's a cool toy.  All I used was a sphere cut in half and squished.

WARK!

Pretty cool effect!

Yeah, it was one of those things I tried to see if it was possible to do.

And yet, for some reason, you chose to magnify her...

...hands.

Your right, and I totally forgot to give her a ring or something.

This is exactly the effect I'm after; would you be able to share your material settings?  I tried using a squashed sphere with the glass procedurals, but they don't give the magniying effect I'm after!

My self-build system - Vista 64 on a Kingston 240GB SSD, Asus P5Q Pro MB, Quad 6600 CPU, 8 Gb Geil Black Dragon Ram, CoolerMaster HAF932 full tower chassis, EVGA Geforce GTX 750Ti Superclocked 2 Gb, Coolermaster V8 CPU aircooler, Enermax 600W Modular PSU, 240Gb SSD, 2Tb HDD storage, 28" LCD monitor, and more red LEDs than a grown man really needs.....I built it in 2008 and can't afford a new one, yet.....!

My Software - Poser Pro 2012, Photoshop, Bryce 6 and Borderlands......"Catch a  r--i---d-----e-----!"

I actually made a "real" lens shape for my Sherlock Holmes set in my freebies. It should work like that also.

Paul, I used a rounded concave object (not a sphere, more like the lens of your eyes or glasses) and added a refraction node using the IOR of 1.2.

Here's the node set up.  Everything but the refraction is a gamma correction shader I've been using and that's why it looks black in the first picture.  If you use the shader just remember to put something behind it and you won't have to worry about that.  You may or may not need it, so I included it just in case.

Also don't worry about me setting refraction to .99, I was just trying something and you can use 1 or whatever you like.  Just start by putting the refract node into the refraction color and see what that gets you.

If using a sphere doesn't work and you need to make the prop yourself, just grab something free like wings or blender.

That's great, thanks!  I've got two whole weeks off work so I'll give it a try later on.  Thanks again!

Aw, shucks....I'm useless, really....!  Just couldn't get it to work in Poser for some reason.  Nailed it in seconds in Bryce, but the idea I've got for a picture needs to be done in Poser.

...it wouldn't work without them, they are an ESSENTIAL part of the system, especially the ones on the memory modules....they help the memory to, er, remember stuff better.....
