Subject: Morphs breaking my rigging

Afrodite-Ohki ( ) posted Tue, 04 January 2011 at 10:25 AM · edited Mon, 20 January 2025 at 12:18 AM

Hello!

I'm making a clothing set for V4, it should be released by now if it weren't for this very troublesome bug I'm getting.

It works fine on Poser8 which is the one I use, as you can see here:

However, on my tester's Poser7, this happened:

The chest area is supposed to work like this, because it's skin-tight and has a morph to fit one clothing piece to the other, and my tester didn't know that when she made that image.

But notice the parts that go on the arms - and only those - move around.

To me, it seems the rigging brings the arm straps back and the gloves further to the direction of fingers.

I reinstalled my Poser7 AND 6 to test, they both simply crash when I try loading the gloves. So I loaded the obj's for them and remade the figures, rigging them in Poser7. It worked... until I loaded morphs back into it, using MorphingClothes. Everything broke again, same errors.

Today I tried loading the glove in Poser8, setting a morph to 1 and exporting the obj, then loaded it into my blank glove using ToolCollection's AddMorph app. It worked fine, then I pasted the crosstalk text from Poser8's figure to the other I had just added the morph to, worked fine and did the crosstalk correctly.

When I transfer the morph from Poser8's figure into the blank one using MorphManager... bug again.

Tried using MorphingClothes to load a few morphs at a time... started with Morphs++, already made it bug.

Can anyone suggest a way for me to place morphs in it without bugging? Any idea on why this is happenning? I'd really like to avoid having to use the process of loading it in Poser8, exporting each morph, loading each with AddMorph and making the crosstalk by hand, that would take me weeks (as I'm making it work with Morphs++, SheFreak4, Aiko4, Stephanie4, Girl4 and Alice4)...

Thank you in advance!

I would load the base figure obj and the broken morphs and check that they havent moved. That would be step 1.

Sorry, I didn't really understand exactly. In any case:

-Morphs work perfectly on Poser8, no moving around.

-Morphs work correctly when I export them from Poser8, import them into the blank figure on AddMorph (which is an external application that doesn't require Poser), then load that figure in Poser7 or 6, no moving around.

-I can't check if the morphs from the fully morphed Poser8 figure move within Poser7, because those figures crash my older versions of Poser completely, making me force Poser shutdown via Window's ctrl+alt+delete every single time I try to load the figure.

render 1 is very nice, anyway.  I dunno if this affects yer item, but some models, e.g. miki3, are fully functional only in poser 8 or later, due to the difference between poser 7 and poser 8 joint zones.

Hmm... But my joint zones were made by loading V4's bones in the setup room. All parts were made like this, and only the parts that go on the arms have problems. Also, I re-rigged gloves and armstraps inside Poser7 (also using V4's bones) and it worked in Poser7 and Poser6, and stopped working only after I put morphs into them...

(also, thank you very much for the compliment!)

I once had such a problem with gloves rigging. In that case I had deleted the neck actor cause not neccessary. The rigging was BODY-hip-abdomen-chest- and then left and right arm parts. So normally the neck is obsolete cause chest is the common parent for the arms.

But with using a morph the gloves left their positions. After reimplementing the (empty) neck actor this behavior was gone and all worked correct. Might be a symmetry problem ...

May be it's the same with your parts ??

Oh. OH! I can try that, THANK YOU! I'll try it sometime tomorrow and post my results here.

I gotta say, re-rigging the entire thing is much better than exporting and importing all those morphs one by one.

You know I've had the same problem/fix as Jo, only though I added the neck and head (no eyes) and it fixed it.

Don't ya love how shit works in one version/app and not in another? Welcome to our nightmare. lol.

Yeah, now I found a bug in Poser 8 that's making my neck bone snap to the feet when I start deleting unwanted bones from V4. Sigh Ok, gotta rig this in an older version.

Snapping bone to the feet in P8 ...

Are you using a european keyboard layout with normally a comma as decimal divider ?? And is your P8 lower than latest SR ??

Then it's a old bug that is coming from ignored european decimal comma input. This is fixed in the latest SR ... ok, for most input boxes, not for all but definit for the setup room.

But I normally also rigg in Poser7. In my opinion that's much smother working in the GUI than P8 and all the input boxes are clearer in reaction to keyboard or mouse strokes. Ok, they have a bug in P7 for only accepting 3 decimals behind the comma but hey, it's Poser and you can't get all in one go ... :-)

Afrodite-Ohki ( ) posted Fri, 07 January 2011 at 9:15 AM

I wasn't even using the number inputs, but in any case, this should not be a problem to me, I'll just use Poser7 to rig. But thank you very much anyway ^^

Taking long to get to this because a friend of mine is arranging an anime convention that will happen tomorrow, and I promised him I would cosplay there. So working on my costume LOL

let us know how the convention went.

Still crashes for me, but my tester says everything is working fine for her now!

I don't know what makes my version crash, perhaps the lack of Service Releases that I haven't installed.

In any case, I'm calling this a success. Thank you very much everyone!
