Hello.

We are in trouble because the render of Victoria 3 is of poor results (see picture).

It seems to be the edges of the mesh have been creased.

I'm sure I have done the right settings in 'Render settings'. The display was set to 'texture shades'. Nevertheless the render and the display shows the same error.

More difficult is the result of other items like Victoria 4 or Mike 4. They both make renders without errors in the same session and same settings.

Does anybody knows whats' going on in Poser 8?

intel i7 930, 12GB Ram, ATI 5870 (driver 8.771.0.0)

MS-Windows 7, 64bit

Thanks in advance for your help.

It looks like the crease angle settings on the V3 figure have changed to a lower value.

For best results, I have used 85 as crease angle, yours have similar result to a setting of 15 to 20.

Hi Cyber Dream.

Thanks for your response. Where do you want me to change the angle? Is there any feature in Poser 8 available?

I have tried to smooth the egdes in a separate mesh editor. Made a copy of the blMilWom_v3.obj and tried the new obj in Poser. Unfortunately with no success.

Thrilling - Works fine in Poser 7.

Oddly enough I have found a copy of Victoria 3 in my Poser 8 library some minutes ago. I have made this copy of V3 in the past to get back all my settings of V3 with one click.

Okay - Primary I can continue with this copy but I'm curious why poser 8 is transforming some items like this way.

it's as if the obj file were exported/imported with bad crease angles.  I don't see a setting for overall crease angle, other than going to each body part, 1-by-1, and zeroing them all.  maybe OP exported v3.obj wrong from poser, and replaced the one in geom folder with bad copy.

Do you have "Smooth Polygons" checked in your **render settings**? Also, make sure the "Smooth Polygons" box is **not** unchecked in the figure's body parts settings panel in the Pose room. The crease angle should be 80.00

All of V3's parts settings should look like the image.

In your render settings the "Smooth Polygons" checkbox should be checked on the right under "Options".

It's not "Smooth Polygons" - it's crease angle. You somehow changed the figure's settings, or you used an OBJ where all the vertices became unwelded.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Hi all.

think - the problem is a little bit tricky. Needless to say - I have done all the settings mentioned above. As I said - some items work - some not in the same session. At least - no problem in Poser 7.

Meanwhile I have found more items where this phenomenon is present. Most of them were added to previous poser versions.

I'm with bagginsbill and think the problem is based in the obj. Tomorrow I'm going to check two of these objects. Perhaps I'll find a clue.

You can also set the dafault Crease Angle for everything in the General Preferences. But? Did this obj go into another 3D app in a privious life??

Even very low poly models look better then this ???
Set Crease angle in the General Preferences, at 80 , the default, and you can go to 180 i believe. (I use the max setting for my Low Poly models).

Just did a test importing a Low Poly Figure. Crease angle at 0 and at 180. Check General preferences, and you can check each figure group.

This pic is just the imported obj file, not rendered.

Where did you get the files you installed?  From DAZ?  If not, go download V3 from DAZ, if something like this is wrong then there is no telling what ELSE might be wrong with your download.

Hi vilters.

Thanks for the good advice. Think this is the point. I have checked the general settings and the smooth angle was valued '0'. Perhaps I have changed it by mistake some days before. I have put it back to '80' and the render of all products is fine now.

 Thanks again for your help.
