Subject: Dreaded reformat/reinstall now getting 'Null( or Empty) Scriptname

FaeMoon ( ) posted Sat, 22 January 2011 at 2:05 PM · edited Thu, 08 August 2024 at 10:03 PM

Hi folks!

I'm getting this error since I had to reformat my hard drive and reinstall poser and the runtime content.  'Null (or Empty) Script name passed to PEPythonengine:Doscript ()    This occurs when trying to load a scene I had been working on previously.

Any ideas?  After I click it a couple of times it goes away and loads the scene, so not sure if it has any effect other than annoyance.  I'm going to try saving a simple scene and see if it happens on a new one.   All I can say is, so happy I had my runtimes backed up on an external drive!

Try opening the PZ3 file in a text editor and do a search for "Python". Turn off the case sensitivity if given the option.

If you get a result, please paste a copy of the line back here.

Thanks.

When I search I get

pythonStartupScriptEx ":Runtime:Python:AM:Canis Lupus:startup.py"

for that line.  I had tried to add AM's Wolf to this scene, but had an error when I did.  I thought it just didn't add him, but maybe it partially installed it?

Must just be this scene, I have another scene and it seems to be okay, so maybe the wolf did it.  Is there a way to save my scene?  Just delete that line?

It appears that the Canis Lupus figure requires a script named "startup.py". It probably came with the Canis Lupus figure download. If you still have that and install it in accordance with the instructions that hopefully came with it I think you'll be back on track.

Otherwise just delete the line or opt to bypass the file when the scene loads. Then inspect the figure and try and make any required set up refinements manually.

If you are able to contact AM then I would imagine that they would be able to give more details.

Thanks, Phil.  Will definitely try that!
