Subject: body and head skin resolution

Hi all,

I'm new in doing textures (I made two). When I apply the body and the head textures the head is perfect, good quality and comes out detailed when I render, but the body (the neck and the chest seams) is always blurred compared to the head.

I took a look at the jpgs in the texture section and the jpgs are same size and same resolution.

I think there is a problem with the scales of the body and the head texture.

Does anyone have an idea how to avoid this problem in the futre and to get a detailed body as well as the head?

Thanks for your help !!!!!

Due to the way the head and body are UV mapped, the head has a higher pixel density.

You may see less difference with Texture Filtering turned off, but the only real way to solve the problem you mentioned is to use larger map for the body so that the pixel densities match.

That's what I thought. But is it enough to make a 2050px map with 72 resolution to a 4000px map with the same resolution or is it better to leave 2050px with 600 resolution? Or do the two in same time?

This will make a very "heavy" jpg file, no?

A texture works best at 512x512 or 1024x1024 or 2048x2048 or 4096x4096

Depending on the model one could use a 2048x2048 for the head and a 4096X4096 for the body.
Or a 1024x1024 for the head.
But most want a detailed face anyway.
